Hylian

Hylian is a language that has been spoken since time out of mind. Said to have been handed down to Hyrule by the Goddess Herself.

The wealthiest and most distinguished of Hylians have a vaguely posh British accent, while the poorest tend to speak short and quick, like the U.S. South. The middle class have more of a U.S. Midwestern accent.

There are several words and phrases that are different in Hylian from their (modern) English equivalents:

to throw under the bus --> throw under the wagon

"Go to Hell" is a taboo insult because it is believed that invoking the name of Hell invites demons to curse to you; replaced with:
flipping off
"go join your ancestors"
"go f*** yourself"
"f*** off"
"swim in Hylia River"

Jesus Christ --> Hylia Above, Goddess/Hylia in Heaven

Praise/Thank God/the Lord --> Thank/Praise Hylia/the Goddess

Oh my god --> by the Goddess, Hylia/Goddess above

God's sake --> for Hylia/the Goddess' sake, for the love of Hylia/the Goddess

God damn/dammit --> damn it all, curses, "take it away, Hylia", for goodness sake, "oh, f*ck all", heaven's wrath

What the hell? --> what in Hylia/the Goddess' name, what in heaven, what the heck, what in the world
