Shannon was born in Airedale, Amera as the youngest child of the Tarvin family. As her mother died giving birth to her, Shannon and her older siblings Alex and Lori were cared for by their father Zanis.

When Shannon was 5, a plague swept through Amera, and Zanis caught it despite the family's best attempts to avoid it. Fearing for their safety, Zanis sent the children away to Sheffield Orphanage with what belongings they could carry as well as name tags around their wrists to identify them. However, they got separated along the way and Shannon wandered aboard a ship destined for Gaelen. Miraculously, she survived the journey and ended up on the Swanthorn family‘s estate. Identified by her name tag, the family decided to adopt her and raise her as a noble.

Shannon rapidly adjusted to her new surroundings and was given an excellent education as she grew, being taught in noble mannerisms, practices, and Gaelenian politics, ensuring that she would follow in the Swanthorns' footsteps as head of her family's estate. In addition, Shannon was also taught the glaive by her adoptive father Leon as was tradition among Gaelenian nobility.

Shannon also became close to her adoptive older sister Lindra. When the girls were not training or attending classes, they frolicked around their large villa or explored the surrounding estate. The girls also took trips with their parents to nearby cities, particularly the city of Astiri, where many noble and political gatherings were held.

As she grew into her adult years, Shannon proved herself as a capable noble alongside her sister as well as an expert knight thanks to her family's training, catching the eye of nobles all around Gaelen and abroad.

Shannon is aware of the fact that she is adopted but still considers herself a part of the Swanthorns regardless, and vice versa. Due to the young age at which she was adopted, her memories of her birth family are a haze. Every now and then, she wonders what they are like and if she might see them someday, though overall it does not affect her daily life.
