Petra was born in Amera, where he lived a happy childhood alongside his parents and his younger sister Chelsea. However, when Petra was 21, Duskwing Syndicate Subjugators raided his hometown, killing his parents and kidnapping Chelsea despite his best attempts to rescue her. Driven by his desire for vengeance for his parents' deaths as well as save Chelsea, Petra strove to become a Champion, dedicating himself wholly to his goal. He was eventually recognized and chosen by Fleuris for his conviction and drive, and from that day forward uses his position not only to better the Dawnwing Organization as a whole, but also in hopes that he would one day be able to save Chelsea from the Duskwing Syndicate's clutches.
