Desires revenge on the Dawnwing Organizations for supposedly killing her family
Kiali is secretly deeply lonely due to her lack of family and thus is jealous of others’ camaraderie, especially when family is involved, and thus looks to the other Duskwing Syndicate Champions as a replacement. She is also insecure about her abilities as a Champion – all of which she hides behind bravado and snideness; part of her extended bond with Ashika feeds from her desperation for companionship and the opportunity to prove herself, resulting in a borderline extreme reliance on her Guardian. Ashika recognizes this and tries to help Kiali work through it so she can become her own independent person.

- Is noticeably calmer and kinder once she reunites with her family, seeing the errors of her ways and attempts to make amends even though she feels she doesn't deserve forgiveness
Weak as she solely desires to utterly crush the Dawnwing Organization or die trying, regardless of the toll it would take on innocent lives or her own

Born as the oldest child of the Yukan family, Kiali was raised in Ochi, Kaze alongside her younger brother Chikao, her mother Asuka, a professor, and her father Hanji, a well-known scientist.
When Kiali was 18, a Duskwing Syndicate Subjugation invaded Ochi in search of Hanji, triggering a battle between them and the Dawnwing Organization Liberators who appeared to defend them. The family was separated in the chaos, with Kiali the only one to remain.
Dinesh found Kiali alone amidst the rubble and coaxed her out; when she asked where her family was he told her that the Dawnwing Organization, threatened by her father’s technology, had murdered them all in cold blood. Grief-stricken and with nowhere else left to go, Kiali opted to join the Duskwing Syndicate, taking up the naginata with the intent of taking revenge for her family’s deaths and making the Dawnwing Organization pay for their cruelty. Cutting her ponytail into a bob cut as a representation of her new start, she discarded her old identity and chose the moniker "Aliki", which she would go by for the next five years. The only memento she has of her family is a silver butterfly hairpin that her brother gave her for her twelfth birthday, which she treasures dearly and always wears as a reminder of her family.
Desperate for a connection to fill the void left behind Kiali immediately integrated herself into the Duskwing Syndicate and latched onto Ashika with a fervor that left the kitsune worried for her well-being at first. However, this also proved to become a valuable asset as the two easily synchronized with each other, well beyond that of all other Champions. Kiali soon became an incredibly powerful fighter, easily surpassing both the veteran Dawnwing Organization and Duskwing Syndicate Champions in bond power and military prowess within the space of a few months. Blessed with Ashika's gifts on top of this, the two became an unstoppable force that would lead the Duskwing Syndicate to glory – and Kiali ever closer to her goal.
In truth, her parents and brother were alive and well, having fled across Kaze to the seaside town of Kyoshi. However, Kiali would not discover the truth until years later.
