(hm true. Aliens? or another one like Jay?)
(I think another one like Jay would be quite fun. Do you want to take control of them like last time or should I?)
(cool cool. Idc, either way is fine with me)
(Would you mind taking control of them? :) )
(of course)
Jay sat up suddenly, eyes flickering around the forest. Someone's here… He reached over and shook Delia's shoulder. "Delia."
"Gimmefiveminutes." She mumbled all as one word, pulling her shoulder away from him and rolling away from him. Delia didn't want to wake up. It was much nicer being asleep and she doubted that what Jay was waking her up for was important.
"Delia." He said again, shaking her shoulder harder. "Wake up. Now."
"What do you want?" She groaned, rubbing her eyes and rolling so she was glaring at him with half-opened eyes, "What is so important that I can't sleep for a little longer?"
"Because there's another one here. Like me." Jay replied, already getting up and looking around, hand reaching for his gun.
It took her a few seconds to process his words before she sat up, muttering something about interrupting her beauty sleep as she reached for her own gun. The faster they could deal with this mess, the faster she could deal with the fresh reminders of what was happening in the world, reminders she was too happy to try to forget in exchange for calm.
"We aren't going to shoot on sight!" Jay said quickly. "But…we need to be on guard."
"You might not, but I'm going to shoot on sight unless you recognize the idiot." She said, yawning as she pulled her gun onto her lap and flicked off the safety. She was relatively calm, or her worry was pushed away by tiredness. One of the two
"Delia." Jay said firmly. "If you shoot them, you're no better than I am, or they are."
That was enough to get her to make her silent, almost working too well as she realized that she was just as bad as any of them. A tiny nod came from her direction and she flicked her safety back on, blinking away the last bit of sleepiness in her eyes. "What direction are they coming from?" She asked quietly, knowing it was painful but true, that she was just another human ready to shoot whoever dared to stand between her and what she wanted.
Jay pointed in the direction, his blue eyes careful. He knew his words had been harsh, but there hadn't been any aggression, so there was no reason to shoot.
She sat up straight, training her eyes on the direction he had pointed to and gripping her gun tightly. "What are we going to do with them once they get here?" She felt Leo brush up against her leg, growling softly but laying down alongside of her broken leg.
Jay shook his head slightly. "I don't know. That depends on them." he replied simply, still holding his gun.
"How close are they?" She asked, holding her gun close in case the person coming towards them wasn't mean.
"Quarter mile." Jay replied calmly, watching carefully.
Delia rolled her eyes and sighed, jokingly asking, "So I could've slept for longer is what you're saying?"
"Maybe. But they might have arrived while you were sleeping, in that case." Jay replied absently.
"They're still a quarter-mile away, Jay," She replied, "Do you know how far that is? I could've slept for another minute or two at least." Delia didn't mind it though. He had kept his promise and woken her up at the first sign of trouble.
Jay shrugged his shoulders. "I wasn't sure how fast they were moving." he replied, looking over at her. "Besides, you said to wake you."
She nodded, "I know, I'm just giving you a hard time. Thanks…for waking me up." Her eyes didn't leave the area that he said they were coming from as she talked, drumming her fingers against the barrel of her gun.
"Yeah, you're welcome." He replied, eyes still scanning the woods, looking for the person.
