"Ugggg..c'mon mystery person, I have things I want to do today besides wait for your dramatic entrance," She groaned, earning a small yip from Leo that sounded almost like agreement.
"Ugggg..c'mon mystery person, I have things I want to do today besides wait for your dramatic entrance," She groaned, earning a small yip from Leo that sounded almost like agreement.
Jay let out a faint laugh. "They'll be here soon, don't worry." He replied, shaking his head a little bit.
Delia sighed and started to flick the safety of her gun from on to off to pass the time, knowing that it was a bad idea but doing it anyway.
Jay frowned a little at the clicking, shifting. After a few more minutes, a figure emerged from the woods.
Immediately, Delia tensed up, her gun off safe and subtly pointed at the figure enough that Jay wouldn't yell at her.
They seemed to be female, with dark hair and crimson eyes.
Jay's eyes flashed with recognition. "Blythe?" he asked softly, stepping forward.
"You know them?" She asked in a hushed whisper as Jay stepped forward, "I'm going to hurt you both if I don't get an explanation on how you know each other at the end of this." Leo growled at the figure, though was subtly mirroring Delia's hidden but terrified state.
"Jay." The girl greeted, looking over at them. "And…a normie." her eyes flickered over Delia, then back to Jay, raising her eyebrows.
Jay looked at Delia. "She was…part of my group. Batch. We were…" he shrugged.
"They experimented on us at the same time, is what he's trying to say." Blythe kicked at a rock, sending it flying into the bushes.
"This..normie, has a name," She huffed under her breath, flicking her safety back on and setting her gun to the side as she watched them. Delia wasn't going to interrupt, perfectly content with them staying far away from her and Leo, who growled as menacingly as possible at her side.
Jay nodded a little bit. "Blythe, this is Delia. Delia, this is Blythe." he rubbed the back of his neck, looking a little uncomfortable.
Blythe winked slightly. Her eyes fell on Leo, and she smiled a little. "Aww, you've got a puppy."
Delia just nodded in response, though a tiny smile did crack over her face when Blythe mentioned Leo, "Yeah, found him in a random town, he was hurt and we helped him. Now he's traveling with us."
Blythe nodded, crouching down and clicking her tongue at Leo, a faint smile on her lips.
Leo growled again, watching the new girl and very slowly padding away from Delia's side to explore the new person. Delia watched the interaction with eagle sharp eyes, clearly tense and not a fan of the new person.
Blythe reached out a hand for Leo to smell, watching the dog. "What are you doing this close to a base, Jay? Been spilling about us? I don't want to be hunted like some sort of animal. This whole shit isn't my fault. Isn't our fault." she said, looking at the dog still.
Leo sniffed at her hand, growling lowly as he did so. His tail wagged soon after though, once he decided she wasn't a threat and he pawed at her hand, immediately wanting to be pet. "The base is gone, they sent drones and blew it up when we were there," Delia said, still wary of Blythe, "It's just rubble now."
Blythe began to pet Leo. She glanced at Delia, then at Jay. "Alright. Still don't answer my question."
Jay sighed, running a hand through his hair. "No, Blythe, I didn't spill anything."
Delia rolled her eyes, going silent once more. She pulled her pack in front of her to keep herself busy, figuring that Jay and Blythe would want to talk without her involved. It wasn't long before she started laying things out, organizing her pack.
Blythe and Jay continued to talk, Blythe keeping a wary eye on Delia.
Leo had abandoned Delia, going between Blythe and Jay to look for someone to pet him again. Delia repacked the things that she didn't need, keeping out anything she figured would be useful though. Soon her pack was finished and she sighed quietly, glancing over at the pair but knowing already that they were still talking.
Eventually, they finished talking. Blythe's dark hair was braided down her back, and her eyes were an eerie red when she looked over at Delia.
Delia had stayed silent, and by the end of the conversation, she was weaving a small mat out of the long grass that surrounded her. She had tuned out their talking a long time ago, deciding leaving herself to her thoughts was better than eavesdropping.
"So." Blythe squatted by her, looking at her. "You're sticking with him." she jabbed a thumb at Jay.
"Yup," Delia said simply, looking over at her and then at Jay, "I have been for a while now."
Blythe nodded a little bit. "Uh huh. I assume you know what we are, yeah?"
"Obviously, I'm not dumb," She replied, rolling her eyes and turning to focus on Blythe, "Stop treating me like a child, just tell me what you want to tell me and get it over with."
