Kade had finished with his business. He had noticed, sometime back, that Arin had gone missing. He assumed that she had run, and so he finished first before going to find her. He was wiping bood off his knives when he spotted her, wandering around.
She was still trying to figure out what to do, standing on the sidewalk with her arms crossed over her chest, her eyes flashing around.
"You didn't run?" He asked, sauntering over to her. He finished cleaning his blades, and slid them back into their places. He crossed his arms.
She snorted. "No, some of the absolutely lovely guys from around here dragged me into some shithole to try and rape me, thanks for noticing." she fired back, glaring at him.
"You're welcome," Kade said sweetly. He jerked his head back towards the inn. "Well, I knew you could handle them. You're fine, after all." He stopped in the doorway. "I've done my job here. We can either stay another night, or leave now and camp out on the road."
"Asshole." she snarled, arms still crossed. She didn't otherwise respond, clenching her jaw and looking away.
"That I am." He leaned against the wall, looking at her impatiently. "Well? Would you like to stay here another night, or leave now?"
She closed her eyes, wanting to go home. Back to Ryke and the little home she had made for herself and the bear, hidden in the woods.
"You still haven't answered me." Kade rolled his eyes. "Man. If I knew what was going to happen, I never would have taken the job from that scumbag. You're just too much work."
"I'm too much work?" her voice was cold. "You killed my bear, for all I know, stole me from my home, left me to fend for myself with a bunch of sleazeballs, and now you want to blame it on me? Bull fucking shit."
"I didn't kill your precious pet," he said, rolling his eyes. "And yes, it's all your fault. If you weren't the fucking princess, or hadn't accidentally been discovered, maybe I wouldn't have to be here, guiding you to him like a fucking slave." He towered over her, scowling down at her. "You could call him back, for all I know."
She glared up at him, fearless. "What, call Ryke back? He's too far; it doesn't work like that." she replied, very tempted to stomp on his toes.
"I see. Well, call a stupid birdy to go and bring him here." He turned away, rolling his eyes. "I give up. Go and run away. Find your stupid bear. I don't care anymore."
She closed her eyes for a moment. She didn't believe him. If she ran, would he chase her down again? Bring her back to the palace?
Kade opened the door to the tavern. It was completely silent, and very few people were around. He moved up the narrow staircase to his room, grabbed the rest of his stuff, and went back outside. He started to saddle his horse. "Well? Why are you still sitting around? Aren't you gonna go?"
"And how do i know you aren't going to chase me down?" she asked, lifting her chin.
"Because I don't want to. It's too much work." He shrugged. "And I have better things to do than babysit a spoiled princess."
She glared at him. "I'm not a spoiled princess." she snapped, shifting a little bit as her eyes flickered around the town.
"Okay. You're not. You're right. You're a spoiled queen." He shook his head in mock disappointment. "Silly me, for forgetting. I feel ashamed of myself."
"I'm not spoiled, asshole." she snapped again, lifting her chin a little bit as she looked around, trying to figure out what to do.
"If you say so." He shrugged, swinging himself onto his horse.
(Do you want him to try and take her to Jacos? Or should she try to start some sort of resistance, and meet up with him again? Or what?)
(My original plan was for him to take her to Jacos and then stuff develops from there, but we could do the resistance idea if you like?)
She rolled her eyes, still rather unsure of what to do. She didn't know the way home from here.
(Yeah, I realized, after I started with Kade, how he was being an idiot, but leaving her was something he would totally do… maybe she could join the resistance against Jacos, and discover that Kade is a member, and then they storm the castle? I dunno, just an idea…)
(Hmm. That could definitely be interesting, yeah! Should we do that?)
