(Sure! Who do you want to start? Or do we just want to continue from where we left off?)
(Sure! Who do you want to start? Or do we just want to continue from where we left off?)
(Idk. Maybe we could skip to when Arin's part of the revolution?)
(Sure! Do you want me to go, or do you have an idea?)
(Idc, which would you prefer?)
(It doesn't matter.)
(alright. Well idc either way)
(Maybe you can? So I can see how you set the scene?)
(sure! I was going to start after Arin's part of it)
Arin had found the rebellion a few weeks ago; had found Ryke, too. The big bear was still healing from where Kade had stabbed him, but he should heal without too much permanent damage, though he would likely be scarred for the rest of his life. She had told only the leader of the rebellion of her real identity, wanting to see what would happen.
(Okay!)
The rebellion wanted to see her. More than that, they wanted to recruit her, bring her in. So they had set up a meeting for her, with one of their members, a woman, so that Arin wouldn't be alarmed. Her name was Katrina.
Arin waited where she had been told to, Ryke beside her. The brown bear still had difficulty in some things, and she could no longer sit on his back, not until he was done healing, but he still looked terrifying, huge, with those claws and teeth.
They met late at night, in the middle of the town square. Katrina was waiting, sitting on the bench and swinging her legs, watching the stars. She seemed only about fifteen, which was strange, but she had a hardness to her that few girls her age did.
Arin arrived at the park with Ryke by her side. It was late enough that she had felt she could maybe get away with it, so this would be fine. Hopefully.
"You're the one?" Katrina asked, spotting the Queen. She stood and smiled slightly, although her eyes held no warmth. "I'm Katrina. Heard you wanted to contact the rebellion?" She looked the woman up and down. "You're a high security lady, you know. Chief was hesitant to send me without guards, but too many people out of doors after dark would raise too many suspicions."
"Yes, I do." Arin replied, looking at her, one hand resting on Ryke's side. "And I am well aware of that. But I can take care of myself." she glanced at the bear at her side for a moment, then at Katrina again.
"I hope so." Katrina jerked her head, indicating that they should go this way. "Come on. This way, unless you'd rather stand out here for a while in the cold."
Arin nodded a little, following Katrina with Ryke by her side, ready for if anything happened. She hoped nothing would happen, but still. Better to be safe than sorry.
She led the Queen into an alleyway, dark and cold. There was the sound of something moving, and Katrina whispered, "Over here." When Arin went over there, there would be a passageway, stairs leading down into darkness.
Arin came over, hesitating for a moment and checking whether Rin would fit. He would, though it would be a bit tight.
She struck something, and a torch burst into flames, lighting up the narrow space. "The Chief has been waiting for you. Apparently there's been talk of a siege at the castle."
Arin nodded a little bit. "I see." She replied simply, thinking of the castle she had grown up in. Well, until she was five, anyway.
"Unless you don't like that idea." Katrina shrugged.
They approached a heavy iron door, which she produced the key to and unlocked it. Warm light spilled into the tiny corridor, and they went in. Inside the room, a burly man sat, talking in a low voice to a man with black hair, who had his back turned to the approaching figures.
Katrina cleared her throat, and the two turned. Arin would recognize the face of the black haired man, as her captor of two days. He split in a smirk when he saw her.
"Well well well," Kade said. "Look who we have here."
Arin's eyes narrowed when she spotted him, and she put a protective hand in Ryke's fur. "It's the asshole." she remarked to no one in particular, though she spoke loud enough that they probably all heard.
"In the flesh," he said, smiling as if he didn't have a care in the world.
"You know her?" The Chief asked.
Kade nodded. "The mission that old sprout-face sent me on. The 'super important one.' Bring her to him." He shrugged. "I wasn't going to finsih it anyway, but she made me quiet early. She's too difficult to handle."
"She's the Queen!"
"And a nuisance."
"I'm not a nuisance. You stabbed my Familiar, drugged me, and kidnapped me, with the intention of bringing me back to Jacos to be his bride." she snapped at Kade.
"I had no intention of actually following through," he said, waving his hand as if it was no big deal. "Your familiar is fine. You're both fine. So nothing bad happened."
