Danny jumped slightly. It seemed that his neighbors began to argue, and dear God they were loud. He groaned, standing up. “Sorry ‘bout then. I tried bangin’ on the wall before, but that doesn’t stop ‘em. You wanna play some music or something to drown them out? I got some CDs, but I don’t know if it’s anything you’ll like.”
Alex inhaled slightly, glancing up when the neighbors began arguing. He looked at Danny. "It's fine." he replied. "And we could play Pandora on my phone? If you want." he shrugged his shoulders.
“That’ll work, sure.” Danny nodded, sitting back down. His CDs were mostly punk and rock, a lot of Rage Against the Machine and Black Sabbath. “You can play whatever, I might go over there ‘n tell those two to shut the fuck up.”
Alex nodded, and got out his phone. He started up Pandora, putting it to shuffle through all his stations.
“You want anythin’ to drink? Got water, juice, beer, whatever.” Danny wandered into the kitchen. It was still pretty visible from the living room, so he wasn’t losing much visual on the apartment.
(god, i might’ve gotten an idea? it’s pretty small, but at some point i just want danny to get wasted at a bar and start flirting with everyone around him)
"Uhm…just some water, please." Alex replied with a faint smile. His Pandora started to play "Requiem" from Dear Evan Hansen, and he sang along, closing his eyes for a moment.
“Water, alright.” Danny got down a cup, filling it up and walking back over to Alex. “Here you go. What’s playin’ now?”
(I already know exactly who’s he’s gonna flirt with, and i’m just trying to build that little shell of a character lmao)
Alex broke off his singing. "Oh! It's called "Requiem" from the musical Dear Evan Hansen." he replied with a smile, taking a sip of water. "Thanks."
(lmao alright!)
“Requiem..” Danny repeated to himself, nodding. He sat back down, making himself comfortable in the dark, worn fabric of the couch.
"I will sing no requiem…" Alex sang softly, rocking little bit with the music, his eyes slipping shut again.
Danny listened to Alex sing for a bit. He was good, no doubt, and he was right- his voice was suited for theater.
"And when the villains fall, the kingdom never weeps, no one lights a candle to remember…" Alex kept singing, eyes still shut as he soaked in the music.
“Jesus, this song is depressing.” Danny laughed slightly, blinking and picking at his nails again. He considered repainting them, although he rather liked the chipped look.
Alex opened his eyes and laughed a little. "Well, the musical is started off with a character's suicide. This is from the point of view of the family." he replied. "Especially the younger sister."
Danny recoiled a bit at the description, his eyebrows raising. “Jesus fucking christ, what? That’s dark, dude!”
(have you listened to the song/musical at all? If not, I recommend you do, it's amazing)
Alex chuckled softly. "Yeah, but the musical itself is actually really fun and amazing. It deals with like…the family's recovery from it, and the main character is a kid who the guy who committed suicide used to bully, and…it's a little complicated, but I love it."
(i haven’t! i’ll add it to the list- i’m really focused on Seussical rn, since it’s what i’m performing in lmao)
Danny nodded, not fully grasping anything that Alex had said. “That sounds cool, man.” He wasn’t quite sure what he had heard, although he loved when people talked about things that they were passionate about, and clearly this was one such instance.
(alright! Oh nice!)
Alex chuckled softly. The song ended, and "Dear Theodosia" from Hamilton started playing. He grinned, singing along. "Dear Theodosia, what to, say to you: you have my eyes, you have your mother's name…"
Danny fiddled with his hands, listening to Alex sing along. “You’re good, you know? Real good.” He smiled softly when he spoke, leaning back and running his fingers through his hair. “Hey- should I re-dye my hair? Like.. black.”
Alex broke off as Danny spoke, opening his eyes to look at Danny. He smiled lightly. "Thanks. And…I mean, I guess that choice would be up to you." he shrugged.
“If I do it again then I think I gotta paint my nails again.. I don’t wanna do that, hell no.” Danny gritted his teeth. “I mean, I still got the dye..”
"Why would you have to paint your nails again if you dye your hair?" Alex asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Uhhh, ‘cause I normally do it as a pair ‘n it would feel weird without it. Plus, y’know, havin’ good hair and fucked up nails- or the other way ‘round- is kinda weird.” Danny shrugged again, chewing on the nail of his middle finger. “Innit?”
Alex shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. I'm not quite that…picky about how I look. Just so long as I'm not greasy or smelly…" he shrugged again, chuckling.
