all adults ever: invest!! invest!!
me after hearing this: nah fuck that i want either a MMA or CD account

i don't like the 1. pressure to invest and 2. the uncertainty and very real possibility to lose money from investing. even if a company is doing well now, you never know if it will go downhill or if/when the stock market is going to crash

I mean obviously do your own research, that was only the basics and I could be wrong. I personally am planning to set up a CD account at some point. ALSO!! Make sure any banking you do is with an FDIC insured bank, that way if the bank crashes you don't lose your money! FDIC insured banks are covered by the government (up to $250,000 per person, per account). If your bank is not FDIC insured, and it crashes, there is no gauruntee you will recover your money

I'm taking a financial literacy course right now, and i highly recommend y'all do something similar because it's been really helpful so far

Most banks are FDIC, especially brick and mortar banks. If you're doing a bank that is online only, though, those are slightly more likely to not be FDIC covered. The bank's website should tell you, tho

Also another thing I should add about MMA and CD accounts: they won't earn as much interest as a good stock will, but like i stated earlier, there's less risk involved, since at the end of it you won't have lost any money, and you should have made some on the interest that accumulates

@ElderGodSwimwithGamers group

I heard investing so I'm crawling out of my stalking hole to throw in my two cents.
Typically with MMAs and CDs, especially the later, the rate of inflation is higher than the interest rate you're able to have. The safest way to invest with a rate that is able to keep up with inflation would be to invest in a bond that is well diversified and from a broker which has been in business for about seventy yea re s with good track record. Also keep in mind the amount that is suggested you invest is about 10,000 to start, which you should only ever invest if you are able to be financially stable if you lose every cent of that. You can invest with less, but it is technically riskier because you are unable to invest in certain bonds with better records.

Oh rape/porn culture. Rampant misogyny everywhere. The fact that no men can be trusted. My eyes are opening and it’s making me angry. But even more it’s making me so, so profoundly sad.

@Pickles group

Okay I can't tell if you're upset that rape culture is an actual thing or that you think it's not and are upset that people think it is

@ElderGod-Icefire

Okay soo this has nothing to do with the current conversation but. I'm listening to "And That's Why We Drink" and they just talked about the Amityville house. And I am. Thoroughly creeped out, what the fuck, I hate this, why did I listen to this I'm gonna have fucking nightmares tonight

@ElderGod-Icefire

I did and I hate it. I looked for two seconds and then closed google like my phone was on fire, I hate it I hate it I hate it and now I feel like something's watching me and idk if there's actually anything there or if I'm just paranoid, I'm riding in a car nothing should be watching me, I hate this

Hhnnnnnnnnnn

Okay so: there was this family living in this house, okay? In Amityville. And one night the oldest son snapped and shot his entire family. Three younger siblings, plus his parents. At trial, he says that he was possessed by a demon and that he didn't kill them the demon did. He went to prison and died recently, I think. Either way, for the rest of his life he insisted that he was possessed. This was in the 70's, btw. All of this is. Anyway, it was a huge house. Five stories, a pool. And another family purchased it for $80,000, far less than it was worth, because of the murders. Soon after this other family, whose name I can't remember, moved in, strange things started happening. Footsteps, thumping. The father, George, was always freezing cold, no matter where in the house he went. They moved in in December, btw. They would have the furnace jammed on high, it would be nearly 100 degrees, and he was still cold. Oh, and when they first moved in, a priest came to bless the house. When he got to the playroom, some strange force stopped him from entering, and he ended up fleeing the house without blessing it. Also in the playroom, they would find hundreds of flies. In December. When the flies were killed, if you left the room to show someone all these dead flies you had killed, they would all be gone when you got back. The garage, which was separated from the rest of the house, would open and close itself randomly, slamming open and slamming shut again by itself.sometimes the houses windows couldn't be opened, and it was as if they were stuck shut. When the three children in the family slept, no matter what position they went to bed in, they would roll until they were in the same position the children of the other family had been murdered in. The exact position. The family dog kept trying to kill itself, trying to choke itself on the leash over and over and over again. One day, when the stepfather and oldest son were trying to get the garage door to close after it had opened itself, they looked upstairs at the window for the girl's bedroom. They both saw, basically, a demon pig. Like it looked like a pig, but it had red eyes and wolf teeth. Creepy as fuck. So they ran into the house and to the bedroom. The sister was nowhere to be seen, but the rocking chair in the room was rocking back and forth. When they came back in 20 minutes later, the chair was still rocking at the exact pace it had been earlier. After that, every time they saw the girl from the corner of their eyes or in a window or a mirror, that pig would be near her. The girl started to say she had an imaginary friend, named Jodi or Judie. Jodi was the girl who had been killed in the house. There was no chance of the girl knowing that name, since the kids names hadn't been published and the parents hadn't told their kids the names of the murdered children. One day, the mom found her daughter walking on the roof. Apparently, "Jodi" had told her that if the little girl jumped off the roof, they would be friends forever. Fucking creepy as shit. Later, the family was trying to open the windows of the house. The oldest boy was wrestling with a window that refused to open. He managed to open it, and his younger brother asked from behind him "did you get it open?" He turned his head to respond, and as soon as he wasn't looking, the window slammed shut on his fingers. Reportedly, it crushed the bones in his fingers so badly that the inner part of the skin on each side of the finger was like, touching. Like pulverized. The whole family rushed over to try and get the window open, but it was as if it was cemented shut. But as soon as they stopped trying, it slid back open all on its own. The mom hurried him to the kitchen, and he sat at the table as she got some ice (idk why they didn't call 911???) But anyways. He saw a spirit walking towards him. It walked through where his hands were lying onto eh table, and then sat down beside him.he watched it for a moment, and when he looked back at his hands, his fingers had healed, except for one portion on his left pinkie, which was permanently hooked afterwards. The final straw came one night, when the two boys beds lifted from the floor and began to slam into each other, over and over. These beds had been cemented from the floor. There was no way they should have been able to move, but they did. The boys started screaming for their parents. In the parents room, the father tried to get up, but it was as if some big heavy thing was on his chest. He couldn't move. Beside him, his wife was also levitating. He grabbed her arm to hold her to the bed, and when he looked at her it was as if she had aged into her nineties. This went on for an hour, before the parents could move. Once they could, they grabbed the kids and fled the house and moved to California. The picture comes from a group for TV people that the family allowed to do an exclusive on the story. The group took pictures, did all sorts of stuff, but the only proof they had was a cameraman who found himself unable to go upstairs, like something wasn't letting him move. Then they took the picture. The boy in the picture, who is peering over a railing, looks, according to researchers, exactly like one of the boys who was murdered. And no I will not link the picture. Just Google "Amityville ghost" and you'll see it. And tbh I didn't do a great job of explaining, but if you want more you can look it up yourself haha

@ElderGod-Icefire

Oh also, the family only lived in the house for 28 days

Another fun fact is they had a crucifix hanging on one wall, and apparently you could watch it turn upside down by itself
