The first night of a two week overnight girl scout camp, three girls 8-10 were r*ped and murdered, the "cabins" were just tents on a wood floor, the counselors were all like 18-20, there's a whole lot of "just stick it out" "you can call your mom in the morning" and "just go back to bed you're imagining things" and like no security at all, someone fucking left a note in a donut box saying that they were going to murder three girls in the cabin it happened before it happened, the girl who found it brought it to the head lady or whoever and the lady was like "it's probably just a prank" and then when law enforcement was talking to her because cabins had been ransacked, she was like "well she didn't tell me cabins had been RANSACKED!" as if saying "i've got a hankering to murder three girls tonight in this cabin" isn't enough to do something, plus a bunch of police ego & fuck ups. When they were found, the owners called their insurance, and then their lawyers, and then the families, but they called the emergency contact of one of the girls, and they wouldn't even tell the parents that their kids were murdered or any of the details, just that they were dead, and then all the other parents to say there was an accident and three girls were dead (and not even which ones, so they didn't know). The families found out from the news because the media found out their daughters were murdered before they did. Minimal parents came to pick up their kids after that, which. what. And there's a whole lot of other stuff that definitely should have made everyone go "huh we should check that out, that's suspicious" but they just DIDN'T and I'm so mad

Oh forgot to mention that instead of closing down the camp for the rest of the two weeks, they just had armed guards in tents

Apparently as well people heard noises through the night when the three girls were kidnapped. Like a camp counsellor actually investigated the noises, but couldn’t find the source and went back to sleep. Idk about you guys but I don’t think I’d be able to go back to sleep after hearing that sort of thing.
Just an overall..sad but baffling situation.

Sometimes instead of doing an assignment I don't like, I tell the teacher why it's a dumb assignment in the fanciest language I know in about the same amount of required writing, and submit that instead. Or I'll do the assignment half-assed and tell them why I did it half-assed. I stopped holding back after elementary. I'm an assignment Karen.
