Not that you could say anything probably. But if someone else gives you a sacrifice to do, I don't think it's actually binding. I mean, you probably are supposed to follow authority, but I always bring this when my mom says she's going to impose a vow of silence on us.

My sister just demanded that I give something up for lent. Honey, lent is when I get the things I would otherwise give up. During lent: I eat regular meals, I sleep at regular times, I drink tea and coffee.. Lent is the one time I don’t give anything up.
