"I am." Ivy grinned

"No city would offer me a job in their guard after being fired from this one," Rheyna told Valerie. "And no one would want to hire a halfblood unless they were extremely desperate."

"Back to the point," Shace said, "Even if we let you turn us in, it wouldn't get your job back. Like I said, we're innocent and you don't have proof that we aren't."

"I'm sure someone could find proof that you're guilty and this girl, Ivy, just admitted that she's a thief." Rheyna replied.

"You are that desperate aren't you," Valerie shook her head, "I'll never understand."

"I need this job." Rheyna insisted. "Unless you happen to know someone who would hire a halfblood."

"I mean, I could technically," Valerie said, "I could always use someone to travel around with."

Rheyna let out a short chuckle. "Work with you? Hell no. I'd rather resort to stealing."

"Hey! What's wrong with working with me?" Valerie said slightly offended.

"Well for starters, you don't seem to like me. I'm not exactly super trusting of any of you right now." Rheyna responded.

"I never said I disliked, I just extremely dislike your actions," Valerie explained, "Besides it's not like you've got another option."

I can't believe I'm even thinking of this as an option. She thought before speaking. "Say I did work for you, how much would you pay me?"

"How much do you want?" Valerie asked calmly.

"Enough to live comfortably. I'm not that picky." Rheyna replied. I guess this is going to be my life now, but at least it's better than living on the streets.

"Okay, so I'll give you that and then a bit more," Valerie said with a smile, "So it's a done deal?"

Rheyna nodded. "It's a deal. I can't believe I've resorted to this."

“So what does that make all of us now?” Luke had yet to stray from Shace’s side.

Valerie laughed, "You're not resorting. You're accepting my help."
