Nebula was born in thge village of Brywood
, along with her sisters C) Tempest and C) Dahliah. At the start of the Dragon War, her father Blackthorn fled the battlefield with his foals and followed a group of Crystal Ponies. He meant to return to Brywood, but the group was pursued by A) King Sombra. In the Frozen North, the dragon killed the group of Crystal Ponies, gravely injured Blackthorn, and separated Nebula from her family, before succumbing to his own injuries.

After being separated from her father in the frozen north, she was found by guardians of the Crystal Empire. She was taken to the Crystal Palace, and the king and queen adopted her.
Up until Nebula was a young filly, the Crystal Ponies powered the Crystal Heart to protect the Empire simply out of a sense of duty. But Nebula showed them the good that came of sharing the light and love within them, and that is how she earned her wings. According to the customs of the Empire, she was proclaimed the next queen. A stallion was chosen to rule alongside her as king. That stallion was D) Coal.
She gave birth to Cadence .
