Kana sighed loudly and forced herself to sit up, her legs hanging off the bed. She glanced up at the window and internally smiled. It's a nice, rainy day. She wasn't aware that her face was frowning, and her eyebrows were furrowed. It had become her very own resting face, her frown. I already ate. I ate too much, in fact… An idea popped into her head, but she wasn't sure if she should act on it or not
Jair kept reading, leaning back against the wall. He was lucky; this book was peaceful. No reminders of anything, just…something he could immerse himself in and forget about everything for a while.
Kana inhaled sharply. If I do this… then I could eat dinner with Aydan. And actually eat. She stood up, tempted to take action. She was conflicted, however, as she knew what she was going to do was wrong. There's no harm in doing it once. Kana shrugged and made her way to the bathroom.
Jair bit his lip slightly as he read, adjusting his position slightly so he was more comfortable. Every time he moved, pain would flicker through his body from the still healing wounds.
just gonna do a quick timeskip because i dont feel like writing about Kana forcing herself to throw up
Kana stood at Jair's door and knocked. I feel better. Like a weight's been lifted… literally. She smiled softly
Jair opened the door after a moment, holding his book in hand. "Hey."
"Are you hungry? She asked, looking down at the book in his hand. Oh, good. He's actually reading it. Kana smiled weakly at him. "I figured I should ask, since it's dinnertime and all that-"
He looked at her carefully. "Sure." he said slowly. "So long as you eat something too."
"Of course," the corner of her mouth twitched. "Come with me, then." She started to walk towards the kitchen (or dining room idk)
Jair set the book down and followed her quietly. He shifted, reaching up into his shirt to adjust a bandage, then dropping his hand again.
(Do we want Aydan there,,, or nah?)
When they walked in, some of the maids seemed surprised. It had been a while since she last came into this room.
(sure)
Aydan was sitting at the table, a book propped open in front of him while he ate, and he looked up, blinking in surprise. "Oh. Hello." he greeted, putting the book away. "I wasn't expecting you." he said with a small smile. His eyes flicked to Jair. "It's…good to see you again, Jair."
Jair nodded. "Yes." He replied simply.
Kana raised an eyebrow at their short conversation and sat down. It's better that it's short, rather than a fight or something ridiculous. "So… How is everyone?" She smiled weakly at the two.
A maid walked in and set down food in front of both Kana and Jair and quickly left the room.
Kana looked down and let out a soft sigh. You can just do what you did earlier. Right?
Jair sat down, looking down at his plate for a moment. "I'm fine." He lied.
"I am doing well." Aydan replied. He and Jair were sitting across from each other, and the difference was obvious. "How are you?" Whereas Aydan was pale, with brown hair and pale blue eyes, clean-shaven and cultured, Jair was darker, with black hair and hazel eyes, a touch of stubble on his jaw and a more rough look about him.
Kana looked back and forth between the two. This is so surreal. I never thought I'd be in a position like this before. She looked at Aydan and shrugged. "I'm okay." Kana never wanted Aydan to worry. Or anyone, for that matter. But especially Aydan. She had no idea how he would react.
Liar. Jair thought, though he didn't speak aloud. Shut up, hypocrite. He thought to himself.
Aydan nodded. "That's good." He replied with a small smile.
(By the way there's kinda like…two sides of Jair's brain that sorta talk at each other? Idk how to describe it. I can bold one of them tho, if it makes it easier for you to understand what's happening XD)
(Lol no that's ok! I actually thought it was normal for brains to be like that but um- I understand him completely)
Kana hesitantly took a bite out of the food, immediately wanting to spit it out. But she ate it nonetheless.
I should tell Aydan about Jair… right? Will he get mad? Jealous? …Why the hell would he get jealous? He doesn't actually care for you. She took a shaky breath and mustered the courage to say, "Um, Jair will be staying with us by the way. And not as a guard. As a…" she looked over at him and remembered the conversation they head earlier. "as a friend."
(alright! lol I do it all the time but I wanted to make sure you weren't confused)
Aydan raised an eyebrow slightly. "Okay." He replied. "What I've said before…still stands." He replied, looking down at his food and taking a bite.
Jair ate, keeping an eye on Kana to make sure that she was eating too.
"Won't be necessary." She spoke plainly, her voice her somewhat audible. She started to stare at her food. Sickening. Why is there so much? She picked up another forkful and calmly ate it. But it doesn't matter, does it? You'll just throw it all up again.
Aydan nodded. "…ah. Has something…changed? Between you two, I mean?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
Jair shrugged, looking at Kana.
Kana bit her lip and refused to tear her eyes off from the plate in front of her. "I'm not sure…" She set her fork down, disgusted with herself.
Aydan frowned slightly. "Oh." He looked at Jair, then Kana. "Too many changes?"
Jair flinched slightly, and looked down at his plate. I already told her that my feelings hadn't changed…so if anything has, it's on her side…
"Just… let's say nothing had been decided yet." She gave Aydan a fake smile and tried to change the topic, "What book are you reading?" Kana slowly pushed her plate forward to show the maids that she had finished, hoping neither Jair nor Aydan would notice.
Aydan shrugged slightly. "Oh! It's uh… the same history book from earlier." He replied with a grin.
Jair reached over and pushed her plate back to her. "Finish your food, Kana." Even their voices were different; where Aydan's was slightly higher, a smooth tenor, Jair's was deeper, with a touch of gravel to it, almost.
She smiled at Aydan happy to see that he was doing ok. At least somebody is.
Kana glared at her plate and sighed, "I'm not hungry, Jair. But I appreciate the concern." Her stomach lightly growled in protest, and she looked down at her hands. You just had to do that. Look at you go, Kana.
