(Supposed to come from that job that we all wanted but never got despite the fact that we're more than qualified. Sorry, do I sound a tad bitter? It's because I am)
Kana's eyes started to sting. Not again… "You've made up your mind on this?"
(true tho)
Jair nodded, and put his hand on her shoulder. "Yeah… I'm sorry. I'll come back." He said softly.
She looked down to the ground, tears slipping from her eyes. "When?"
He sighed. "Please don't cry." He said softly. "I-I don't know when."
"What if you die?" Her voice got quiet and she started shaking from her silent sobs. "What if you never come back?"
He hugged her hesitantly. "Kana, I'll be okay." He murmured. "I'll be okay."
She hugged him back, tightly. "I don't want you to go…" she whispered.
"I know. But I have to." He replied, rubbing her back.
She pulled back from his hug. "No, you don't! You could just stay here!" Her eyes were a bit red and clearly filled with pain. "I don't want to lose you, Jair."
Jair bit his lip. "Kana, I know. I'm sorry." He said softly. "I need to go. It's the right thing to do."
She sniffled and nodded her head. "I know," she cried, hugging herself like she was cold. "But it's still… You could stay here and be happy. They're not aware that you're breaking the law…"
Jair shook his head. "If I stay here, I'm being a coward." He replied softly. "I'll be okay."
"Then promise me-" her voice cracked. "Promise me you'll come back." Kana sounded more like she was asking a question rather than commanding him to do something.
"I promise." He said gently, closing his eyes. "I will do my best to come back."
She hugged him again, not wanting to let go. "You better be safe." She whispered, trying to make sure she didn't cry too much.
He hugged her back. "I will." He said softly.
She stayed there for a while longer. Eventually, she let go, despite not wanting to. "When will you leave?" She sniffled, finally calming down.
He shrugged. "I…don't know." He replied. "Soon."
She bit her lip. "I want to give you something. Before you go."
He nodded, looking at her. "What?" He asked.
She pulled off a necklace that had a pretty crystal that almost seemed to glow hanging off of it. "This." She put it around his neck and smiled. "Something to remember me by."
He gave a small smile. "Okay. Thank you." He said softly.
(Should we,,,,,, do a timeskip? I don't know to when, but uh-)
Kana nodded and wiped away another tear, smiling softly.
(uhmmmm to when he leaves? Or to when he gets back? Or….idk XD)
"Please don't cry. I'll be okay." Jair said softly.
(I feel like we both know how it would go down when he left. It would be pretty similar to just then, in my opinion. How about to when he gets back?)
She chuckled. "I know. You're very capable of defending yourself."
