Kana bit the inside of her cheek. How do I respond to this? "How is it appropriate if nothing happened between us? Like I said, he's doing his duty by making sure I'm safe." She shifted in her seat, becoming slightly uncomfortable with the situation. "And if you're so concerned about his homeland, why don't you send some of your guards? After all, you have quite the surplus of them last time I checked."
"I only meant that technically, he isn't a citizen here, he is still a citizen of his home country. And, well…as they've called for all able bodied men, he is technically breaking the law." The noble replied smoothly.
Kana slightly turned her head in Jair's direction. She looked back at the noble and replied, "Do you have a personal problem with my guard, insert name? If that's the case, I suggest you leave it outside of the court. We could be talking about much more pressing things." She huffed, slightly annoyed at the man.
Jair was silent, not saying a word.
The noble, Aydan Gia, snorted. "Nothing personal. Just trying to protect your Majesty's honor, though you don't seem to be inclined to."
"What would you know about honor, Aydan?" She remembered the time that he was very blunt with his emotions towards her. She shook her head in disbelief, and stood up. "This session will end now, if there's nothing else."
Aydan snorted.
Jair was silent still.
Kana nodded awkwardly at the silence and left the room, wanting to escape as soon as possible.
Jair followed her, quiet.
Kana glanced around her surroundings, wondering if that noble (or any other noble) followed her. She looked at Jair and sighed. "I know I've already apologized, but I'm sorry. What Aydan said was rude."
He shook his head. "It's alright." He replied softly.
"No, it's not…" She sighed and looked down. "This shouldn't even be a problem right now."
"Kana. It's okay." Jair said again.
She peeked at him. "You don't have to lie…" She trailed off, thinking that she heard someone behind her.
"I'm not." He replied softly. He looked around.
"Let's go," she muttered. "I feel like we're being watched."
He nodded. "Lead the way." He said, hand going to his sword.
(We could have that Aydan guy confront them)
She started to walk towards the courtyard. It was a nice day out, and she wanted to go outside.
(again? Sure. What should he say?)
Jair followed her quietly.
(Maybe he could pester Jair? Maybe flirt with Kana? I dunno, just a suggestion-)
Kana sat down on the bench outside, putting her head in her hands. She sighed loudly and thought about their current situation. What if the whole court wants Jair to leave? How would I combat that?
(alright cool)
Jair stood to the side silently.
Aydan came over, sitting next to Kana. The male was attractive in his own way. Young, fit, with curly brown hair and slight dimples. "Doing alright, your highness?"
Kana flinched when she heard his voice. She quickly straightened up when she saw it was him. "I'm fine, thank you." She replied coolly, avoiding looking at him
Aydan sighed. "I didn't mean to offend you, your highness. You are, of course, allowed to hook up with anyone you wish. I was simply looking out for you."
Jair was silent.
"I didn't hook up with anyone," she sighed, exasperated. "But thank you for trying to look out for me, Aydan."
Aydan shrugged. "You know, the people want you to choose a king." He said, looking at her from the corner of his eyes.
(I thought it might add some angst/drama if there's pressure for her to get married or something XD)
(ooo yes)
"I'm aware of that." She faced him. "And I've been trying to figure out who the best person would be for that position."
