She finished cleaning the mess and set the tray outside of Jair's room. She turned and glanced at him. "So, what's next? Do we just live our boring, day to day lives, or…" she sighed, not wanting to finish the sentence. What would she even say if she did?
Jair shrugged. "I don't know. It's your decision." He replied, watching her.
Her eyebrows furrowed as she thought about it. "I can't see myself being with anyone except you," she spoke quietly enough so that he could hear her. "But, it's a tiny bit more difficult than that."
Jair nodded. "I know." He said quietly. "And whatever you decide is fine." He wanted to change into actual pants instead of his pajamas, but didn't want to do it while she was in the room.
She sighed and nodded, and then left the room, shutting the door behind her.
On one hand, she really did care for him and she didn't want to see his reputation be tarnished. On the other, she wanted to act selfishly and see what they could become. Decisions, decisions…
Jair changed. He tied his hair back and shaved, sighing softly. He really liked Kana, but…she was a queen, and he was nothing even close to nobility.
(quick question, how do we want this to go from here? It could be hella angsty or romantic or-)
(epic, ok-)
Kana, fully dressed in normal clothes, knocked on Jair's door. "You ready?"
Jair opened the door. "Yeah." He was buckling on his sword belt.
Two maids walked by, clearly trying their hardest to stay silent. When they were behind Kana they started to burst into giggles and annoying chatter. She sighed, "let's go, then."
Jair sighed softly. "Alright." I guess we aren't talking about what happened, then. I'll assume nothing's changed.
Kana was silent as they walked through the halls. The occasional whisper or giggle would be heard whenever they passed by someone. She suddenly stopped and turned around to face him. "This needs to stop."
He looked at her, and nodded. "Yes. What am I supposed to do about it? You're the queen, not me."
"So become the King." She said, deadpan. Kana was tired of being told what to do and people always humiliating her and Jair. If this happened, they would both be untouchable. And damn anyone who tries to stop us. She wanted to act selfishly just this once.
Jair opened his mouth to respond, hesitating. "I-I… that's not proper. Think for a minute, Kana." He said softly. "If you…if I became King, right after this rumor starts spreading…people will assume…" He shook his head. "That you're pregnant. That…any number of things. As it is, at worst it just looks like you had a one night stand with your bodyguard." He said, looking down at her. I can't be king. I-I can't. I'm not the right type of person. I can't do that.
She put her small hand over his mouth. "Jair, please. I could care less about the rumors. We can prove them wrong." Kana pulled her hand back and sighed, "Besides, you'd make a great King…"
He put a hand on her shoulder. "You are rushing into this." He said firmly. "You can't…you can't do this. Try to marry me so fast. You will only end up disappointed when the attraction fades."
Kana took a deep breath. "Who says it will fade? I've felt like this for a long time, you know."
Jair shook his head. "Kana. You are rushing." He said firmly. "Please."
Kana knew Jair was being logical. Why couldn't she be like him in this case? She let out a shaky sigh and held back tears. 'Don't cry' she chanted in her head. Rumors would spread like wildfire if someone saw her crying. "Mm." She turned and continued to walk to her destination. (wherever that is-)
Jair walked slightly behind her, quiet. I'm sorry, Kana. This is the best way to do it, you'll see. He thought.
(Should they go to the court and make them be confronted by people?)
(yesss! I can do a stuffy male noble to confront them if you want)
(Oh heck yeah lol)
Kana arrived at the courthouse and took her spot, while waiting for the other nobles to arrive. They were quite early
