Aydan nodded. "Yes, and I understand that. However, your guard would not be a good choice for a myriad of reasons. He is a commoner, and a citizen of a different country."

"That would actually be benefiting for our country, but I digress." She stood up and started to stroll around the garden, half expecting Aydan to follow and slightly bother her more.

Aydan walked beside her. "Your highness. Please believe me when I say that I only want what is best for the country." He said.
Jair followed quietly.

"So do the rest of my courtiers." She replied bluntly. She stopped to gaze at her favorite flowers, a small smile on her face.

Aydan nodded. "Yes. We don't want this country to devolve into civil war because you married the wrong man. If you were to pick me, I would help lead the country, and I wouldn't mind if you wanted to be in a relationship with your guard on the side, so long as I was the father of any children, not him."
Jair stiffened slightly, clenching his jaw.

Kana froze and slowly looked at him. "Don't get ahead of yourself, Aydan. You've misunderstood everything." She tried to seem like she wasn't interested in Jair. "What you heard was only a baseless rumor from a jealous maid."

Aydan bowed slightly. "Of course. I am only saying that I would not mind if you wanted to have an affair on the side. I mean no offense."
Jair was silent.

Kana crossed her arms. "You make quite the good offer, Aydan. It would be difficult to turn you down." She turned back to the flowers and inspected them some more. "Especially considering that you are indeed one of the better options for a King, what with your status and all."

"Indeed." Aydan said, watching her.
Jair clenched his jaw, trying to pretend he didn't care.

Kana picked off one of the dead leaves and let it fall to the soil. "Aydan, I want you to be completely honest with me," she started to walk again. "Do you just want to be King? Or, do you actually have feelings for me?" Kana wasn't sure why she was asking this. But she wanted to know his answer.

He thought for a long moment. "Well… I'm not sure. At this moment, it's mostly because I want to be king, hence why I don't mind if you have an affair on the side. But I'm sure I could grow to have feelings for you, in time." He replied smoothly.
Jair looked away.

She smiled softly. "Thank you for being honest." Kana turned around and glanced at Jair momentarily before she focused her attention on Aydan. "I truly do appreciate that."

(gasp I just had a WAY cool idea that would add a bunch of drama!)

Aydan inclined his head in a small bow. "Of course." He replied with a small smile.
Jair was silent.

(Oh?? What is it?)

Kana sat down where she was originally, feeling better. Aydan was indeed a good match. And he would allow her to have an affair. There's really nothing too bad about him that could make me turn him away.

(okay, so Jair decides to honor his country's call for able bodied men, and leaves. He tells Kana he'll come back as soon as possible,and he'll write. Well, he never writes her letters, or at least they don't arrive, and she thinks he's dead. Meanwhile, the pressure on her to get married and have an heir are increasing. So she decides to enter into a courtship with Aydan. After about six months to a year, Jair comes back. He is missing a few fingers on his left hand, and has scars from being captured and maybe tortured. So like there's a reunion between the two, but now Kana as to figure out what to do, bc she's pretty much engaged to Aydan. Idk it's up to you since most of it hinges on your Character)

Aydan bowed. "I'll take my leave of you." He left.
Jair was silent.

(Oh YES?? That sounds great!)

Kana looked at Jair, then looked down to the ground.

(cool! So do you want to do it?)

Jair was quiet. He wasn't sure what to say, so he didn't say anything.

(Yes! Do we wanna start with him coming back or,,, does Jair want to announce that he's leaving? Or something-)

Kana sighed and stood up. I don't know why I expected him to voice his emotions.

(I was thinking he says he's leaving? And we can have a romantic, angsty little scene?)

"He's right, you know." Jair said softly. "That I'm breaking the law. And that he's probably the best choice for king."

(Aw yeah :') )

"I know he's right." She looked at him, slightly surprised that he said something. "But I refuse to marry someone for anything other than love." Kana lowered her voice in case if anyone was listening. "And if you became King, you would immediately become a citizen of this land, right?"

Jair shrugged. "I know you do. And…I don't know. It depends on how your laws work here."

"You would indeed become a citizen if you were King… Why did you bring this up, anyway?" She asked, tilting her head slightly

"Because…I've already been thinking about it. I should go." Jair replied. "I should go home and fight."

Kana looked down, her face visibly shocked. She could feel her heart sinking. "But…" She trailed off. Is he being serious?

(its like 80 bucks and I'm like "I is broke student. Where TF is this money supposed to come from?")

Jair bit his lip. "I'm sorry. But…I really should."
