She jokingly sighed and looked over at him, a grin on her face, "Yes mother." The mention of food made her focus back on the tray, looking over the few options they had. He had been right for the most part, but instead of just broth, it looked like it had a few carrots and a sad amount of noodles as well. "I think they skipped the chicken part, otherwise this could pass as chicken noodle soup," Davina said, taking one of the two small bowls as well as a spoon and sitting on the ground.
Rolling his eyes at her name calling, he picked up his own small bowl and sat down beside her. "Well at least we have food. We could be going on without anything to eat. Enjoy this while you can, we don't even know if they'll give us something for dinner." Apollo pointed out, lightly bumping his elbow to her forearm. "Though you would think they'd try and give us protein…"
"I wish they just gave us more to eat," She agreed, starting on her soup. It wasn't the best, but it was food, and so she ate, knowing it was the only way to get her strength back so she could walk better. Davina tried to imagine that the soup was much better than it was, adding in more veggies in her imagination as well as actual chicken so it could pass as chicken noodle soup.
Apollo agreed, sipping on the bowl with a smile. "Yeah, though I'm just happy we get any food. Everything could be much worse, so I prefer to focus on the good things I've got to live by." He mumbled to her, setting the half eaten bowl of soup behind. "I mean, a lot of other patients have no way to get out of bed. They're stuck."
She nodded, getting what he was saying, "I suppose we should be thankful for that..and that we have each other for company. I know a lot of patients don't have that." While he only ate part of his soup, she finished the bowl before setting it down, wrinkling her nose at the slightly chemical like aftertaste it left in her mouth, "I still wish they would give us better food though."
Chuckling, he stretched out as he began to speak. "Agreed. I'm not sure I can actually force myself to finish, I'm still full from the M&Ms we had." Apollo mumbled, gathering both of their bowls. "Do you wanna finish mine? I don't mind if you do. I'm not really going to eat it." He offered her, holding the bowl out as he stood up to go grab his water glass.
"If you are sure you don't want it," She replied, gently taking the bowl from him and smiling in thanks. Davina really didn't want to eat anymore, but she knew she had to so she didn't become one of the patients that couldn't leave a bed. That would be worse than eating hospital food, so she finished off the rest of his soup. "Thank you," She said, getting to her feet slowly and setting the bowls back on the tray.
Apollo smiled back, picking up the water glass. "No thanks needed, it seemed like a waste not to finish it." He insisted, setting the water aside for a moment. "What now? We've got awhile until night fall, so what do you wanna do until then?" He asked her, walking up to the bed to stand on it. He was bored as could be, and it was starting to show through.
She shrugged, walking over to his bed once the bowls were back on the tray and flopping backward again, "I don't know, what do you want to do?" Davina looked over at him, clearly just as bored as he was. There wasn't much to do in this room, besides her bag of things she had brought with.
"I've got nothing. This is gonna be a long… however long we're stuck here." Apollo laughed weakly, running a hand down his face as he sat with crossed legs. They were both bored, and neither of them had any ideas. How long they'd be stuck here, he had no idea. It didn't seem fair to lock kids up, and leave them to be miserable for who knows how long. "Do you have any cards?"
(Sorry for being gone for so long, life has been crazy)
"I..might, hold on." Davina thought for a minute before standing and walking over to her bag. To be honest, she couldn't remember what she had packed, but more than likely she would have brought a deck of cards. That or one of her siblings would've packed it for her. "I do actually, though I'm not sure if they're all here," She said happily, searching through her bag and pulling out an old but nice deck of cards.
(It's all good! Don't worry about it :3 I disappeared for awhile too)
A smile spread across his lips, and he patted the bed before pulling his legs up. "That's fine, I don't need them all anyways. I wanted to show you a magic trick I learned." Apollo told her, smoothing out the bed sheets. "If you're up for it at least." His smile was soft, the same as his eyes. He was calm, and relaxed… though mostly because he was tired.
She nodded, a curious smile on her face as she stood back up slowly and brought the deck of cards to him. "Of course I'm up for it." Davina sat down on the other end of the bed, pulling her legs up so she was sitting with her legs crossed and a look of curiosity on her face.
Once she was sitting, he shuffled the cards in silence for a moment. As he finished, he placed three rows of four cards face down on the bed. "Don't think too hard about this, alright? Now, I'm going to flip the cards and I'm going to choose one and write it down as my prediction." Apollo hummed, getting up from the bed to grab pen and paper.
"This already looks interesting," She said, watching as he laid out the cards and got up to get something to write with and on. Magic tricks were usually really cool and fun to watch, and she had no doubt that this one was going to be any different. Davina didn't know many of her own card tricks, so she hoped Apollo would be up to teaching her how to do this trick after he finished with it.
Carrying a small notepad and pen back over to the bed, he set it aside so he could flip all the cards over. Once he did so, he scanned over them all to pick one and write down. "Alright, once I finish writing, I'm going to hand this paper over to you. You make sure not to let me have that back." Apollo insisted, ripping the page out and handing it over. "Got it?"
Davina smiled, taking the paper and folding it up until it fit in the palm of her hand, "Got it. You're not getting this back until the end of the trick." Her curiosity was growing as things seemed to get more complicated, but she wanted to know what he was going to do, so she stayed silent and waited for what he was going to do.
"Alright," Apollo began pointing to each of the three rows with a gentle smile on his lips. "Pick a row, one, two, or three?" He asked Davina with a light smile, leaving the choice up to her. "I'm not going to try and influence you in any way."
"Hmmm, three," She decided, tapping the row and looking back up at him with a smile and a small nod, "Row three." This trick already seemed interesting, since it seemed to focus on what her choice was instead of him leading the trick along.
(Again, I'm sorry for not responding sooner. Life is just insane right now.)
Smiling he swiped away the third row, putting it back in the pile on the side. "Alright, now that that's gone, go ahead and pick one of the other two rows." He told her, stretching out his arms while he waited for her to decide on one of the two.
(I understand! :) )
Davina smiled, taking a minute longer to decide this time. "I'll go with row two," She said, spinning so she was leaning on her stomach and facing the cards and watching Apollo happily, "If you don't mind that is."
Apollo nodded, picking up the opposite pile. "I told you, it's all up to you. If I try and sway your opinion, it's not much of a trick now is it?" He asked with a light laugh, dropping the small stack of cards on the bigger pile.
"Alright then, magic boy, what's next?" She asked with a small laugh at his answer, looking between him and the remaining pile of cards, "Do I have to pick a card out of there or something?"
“Nope, you pick one of the four cards. The red heart of ace, the black queen of spades, the red seven of spades, or the red king of clubs?” Apollo asked, drumming his fingers on his knee as he glanced over the cards.
Davina looked over the options and tapped one, deciding quickly, "Ace of hearts, that's my choice." She propped her head up on one of her hands, looking over the remaining cards to see what he was going to do now.
