"Uh… I think so? This seems to be a good thing? He's still protective of me when I'm like this." Nix was standing over Cas now, shielding him from Halm. "Definitely a new experience, though."
"Uh… I think so? This seems to be a good thing? He's still protective of me when I'm like this." Nix was standing over Cas now, shielding him from Halm. "Definitely a new experience, though."
"I see," Halm said. He looked at Nix standing over Cas, sighing a bit. He offered his hand to Nix, a peace offering.
Nix eyed him warily before gently touching his nose to Halm's finger. He lay down on top of Cas, who sighed softly. "He's kinda clingy."
"I wonder who he gets that from," he says in a light tone. He was just playing, not meaning anything in a bad way.
Cas stuck his tongue out playfully and tried to free himself from Nix's grasp. "He worries more than I do, honestly…"
Halm chuckled a little. He reached out now, carefully helping Cas out from under Nix.
Nix yowled unhappily and circled under where Halm was holding Cas. "Nix! Calm down! I'm fine!" Nix huffed and sat down, kneading the ground nervously.
Halm set Cas carefully on his lap.
"He really does care for you," he noted.
"Mhmm. He's getting a bit old. I've had him since I was younger. He helps me with my anxiety." Cas nuzzled against Nix when the larger cat inevitably came up to him. "He'll lay on my chest to ease my breathing during panic attacks, and he can run and get help if it gets too bad. The people who own my apartment complex know what to do if Nix runs down and starts yowling since he's super quiet otherwise."
"I'm glad you've had someone to help you." He lightly put his hand on Cas's head, smiling softly. Both Cas and Nix were now in his lap, but he enjoyed it some.
Cas, trying to figure out cat mannerisms, stuck out his tongue for a full minute before he leaned forward and touched it to Nix's forehead. Nix seemed to almost be laughing at him as he pulled him close with one paw and started grooming him again.
Halm laughed a little at the interaction, smiling softly.
"Even if your in a cat body your still human," he says with a grin. "Nix can tell that too."
Cas huffed and fluffed out his fur a bit, embarrassed. "Yeah, yeah… I'm trying." Nix brushed his cheek against Cas's and purred.
Halm smiled a little, reaching down to lightly scratch the top of Cas's head.
"You'll get it," Halm said encouragingly.
Cas purred softly and pushed his head up into Halm's hand. "At least I know Nix is gonna be forgiving."
Halm smiled softly, continuing to pet Cas.
"Right."
"Mm… that feels nice…" Cas stood up on his tiptoes and nuzzled against Halm, purring.
"I'm glad it does," Halm said with a smile. He gently rubbed Cas's head, enjoying this.
Cas lay down on Halm's lap, purring contentedly. He yawned a bit and stretched out his paws in front of himself.
Halm pet Cas, smiling softly.
"Enjoying this?" He asked with a smile.
"Mhmm…" Cas purred a bit louder and closed his eyes, seeming content to just sit for the moment.
Halm smiled, petting Cas for a moment more. Eventually, though, Halm took his hand away.
"I gotta get to work," he said softly.
Cas meowed unhappily and climbed up onto Halm's shoulder. "Take me with you?"
"Sure thing," Halm said. He helped Cas up, and he stood.
"You warm enough?" He asked.
"Mhmm… I think cats have a higher internal temperature than people." Cas huddled close to Halm, his head pressed up against Halm's neck as he purred.
