"Well, yeah." Halm smiled a bit. "And I figured you wouldn't want to be permanently." He stepped into the kitchen, getting ready to begin cooking.
"Well, yeah." Halm smiled a bit. "And I figured you wouldn't want to be permanently." He stepped into the kitchen, getting ready to begin cooking.
Cas nodded a bit and began watching Halm cook. "Maybe I could talk to Nix. That would be nice. He'd probably be bigger than me, to be honest…"
"Probably," Halm agreed. He hummed a bit as he cooked, thinking.
"Still, I think you would both still get along."
"Well, yeah. He's a therapy animal. Um… trained emotional support. Something like that. He's the best cat ever."
"I see," Halm said. He smiled softly. "He must mean a lot to you."
Cas nodded a bit. "I'd be devastated if anything happened to him. He's like, everything to me. He keeps me alive. I'm not even trying to be dramatic."
Halm nodded.
"Your soul told me," he said quietly. He moved to change the subject from death- they were surrounded by it, and he would prefer to talk if lighter things.
"So, are you actually interested in being a cat for a bit?"
"Uh… yeah, sure. Why not?" Cas shrugged a bit, smiling weakly.
"Okay then," Halm said. "You decide when you want to." Halm finished making breakfast, carrying everything over to the table and sitting down with Cas.
"Um… whenever is fine. Probably after breakfast, though." Cas yawned and started eating a bit.
"Sounds good to me," Halm said. Halm ate quietly, enjoying the time with Cas.
Cas soon finished his breakfast and leaned back against Halm, humming softly.
Halm wrapped his arms around Cas.
"You ready?" He asked.
"Mhmm…" Cas lay his head against Halm's chest and looked up at him.
"Okay then." Halm lifted one hand, lightly touching Cas's cheek. After a moment, Cas was shifting and changing, and was soon a cat sitting on Halm's lap. It had been painless, of course.
Cas looked down at himself curiously. He was a small ginger tabby with light paws and muzzle now, and he was purring lightly. He looked up at Halm and climbed up onto his chest, trying to be closer to him.
Halm smiled a little, lifting his hands up to hold Cas.
"How do you feel?"
"M'alright." Cas nuzzled up against Halm's chin, purring contentedly. He curled his tail around one of Halm's hands and sighed.
"I'm glad." Halm left the one hand Cas had curred his tail around up holding him, using the other to gather up the plates. He stood, putting the plates away. He lightly rubbed Cas's head, just like he would when he was human.
Cas purred a bit louder and leaned into the touch contentedly. Nix noticed Halm holding a cat he didn't recognize and started meowing loudly.
Halm chuckled a little when Nix started meowing.
"Someone's curious," he says with a smile. He finished with the plates, going over and kneeling next to Nix.
Cas crawled out of Halm's lap to go and see Nix. The fluffy black cat was almost double Cas's size, and he clearly wasn't threatened, but he was definitely confused. Cas hesitated before reaching out one tiny paw to touch Nix's nose the way he often did when he was a human.
Halm sat down, watching to make sure nothing violent ended up happening. Nix was so much bigger than Cas, Halm was prepared to step in if Nix didn't like what was going on.
Nix circled Cas and sniffed him, settling down when he recognized his scent. When he seemed to grasp that this strange cat was indeed his owner, he pulled Cas close and started grooming him. Cas meowed quietly and closed his eyes, not quite sure what to do.
Halm chuckled a little when Nix started grooming Cas.
"Are your doing alright?" He asked gently, smiling. This was honestly adorable.
