Cas nodded. "Sounds kinda like a helicopter parent if you ask me. Aren't you like, pretty old?"
Cas nodded. "Sounds kinda like a helicopter parent if you ask me. Aren't you like, pretty old?"
"Yes," he said. By now they were walking down one of the items as they talked. "But she likes her… Control. It's why she has us call her Mother. She didn't actually give birth to us."
"Right…" Cas sighed. "How many are there? Gods, I mean…"
"There are eight others like me," Halm said. He looked like a weight had been taken off him with the subject change. "But there are hundreds of gods under us."
Cas nodded a bit. "Did she create all of them? Or just you and the eight others?"
"She created us nine," Halm explained easily. He was definitely allowed to talk about this. "The others are very, very old souls who don't need bodies anymore."
"Interesting… so once a soul is old enough, it kinda just becomes a small God?"
Halm nodded. "Pretty much. They get to keep the memories of their very last mortal life before becoming a God too." Halm seemed to be heading to a cave. A cave in a cave.
"How old is my soul?" Cas asked curiously, glancing up to notice the cave.
"Not very," Halm admitted. He didn't even have to check Cas's soul to know that. When they got to the cave, Halm stopped.
"How are you about the dark?" He asked.
"How do you know it's not old?" Cas looked up at the question and considered. "Um… not my favorite, but it's fine…"
"It won't start dark from long," Halm promised. "And it's just something I can sense." He stepped into the cave, making his way inside. It got darker quickly, the only light coming from Halm himself.
Cas held onto Halm and sighed, keeping his eyes closed for now. "When does it get not dark?"
"We're almost there," Halm said gently. Eventually, he stopped and pulled a light from his pocket.
"You'll want to see this," he said. With that, he flicked the lighter on, and the room lit up as hundreds of multi colored crystals and gems reflected the light of the fire.
Cas looked up, his eyes reflecting the shining crystals when he did so. "Wow…" He tried to get down from Halm's arms so he could get closer.
Halm gently sat Cas down, smiling at the look on his face.
"I usually come here when I don't have time to go to earth."
Cas held onto Halm's hand as he approached the crystals. After a second or two of hesitation, he reached out to touch them, his face still glowing.
The crystals, despite the very short amount of time light had been hitting them, they were warm. Halm held Cas's hand gently, coming with him to the crystals.
Cas drew back when he felt that they were warm, but he soon put his hand back on the crystals. He ran his fingers along them and hummed softly to himself.
Halm smiled softly.
"What do you think?" He asked, kneeling down next to Cas.
"They're beautiful…" He murmured softly. The gems reflected soft light onto Cas's features and made him seem like he was almost glowing.
Halm watched Cas with gentle eyes. He did seem very… Cute with this lightly. That wasn't the right word. Cas was stunning.
"I'm glad you like it…"
Cas smiled softly; a genuine smile. It felt like he hadn't truly smiled since he'd arrived here, but he was awestruck by this place.
Halm was a bit surprised by Cas's smile, but it was nice. He wished he could get Cas to smile like that more. Halm gently set the lighter down, the light from the crystals shifting with it. It was like being inside of a kaleidoscope.
Cas ran his fingertips along the crystals gently, admiring their beauty. He could see himself in the reflections on them, which intrigued him.
