(i'm angry with you, Swim (not really). It's all fluffiness for Cas, but Torin gets: tortured, thrown out of the sky, shrunk in a traumatizing manner, etc. Makin' me jealous :()
"I'll be here to help you," Halm said softly. He was working to keep himself calm so he could help Cas.
"No matter what happens."
(that's cause Torin would have walked all over Halm and if you get Marcos you get the pain)
(:(((()
Cas fell quiet other than the soft sounds of his crying. He kept close to Halm, both for comfort and for warmth.
Halm continued to gently run his fingers through Cas's hair, feeling absolutely horrible because he knew it was what he had done to Cas that was making him cry like this. He gently rocked Cas, thinking of what his Mother had done to help him.
Cas had no idea how to feel at this point. He didn't want to be here, of course. While his life on earth hadn't been great, he did have a life there, and he'd suddenly been wrenched from everything he knew in a matter of a few minutes. He couldn't help but blame himself for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He should have just left instead of sticking around to gawk at Halm.
"I'm sorry," Halm mumbled softly. "I'm so sorry for what I've done to you." Halm wasn't even sure if he had done the right thing. He probably hadn't. Cas would have died, yes, but he would have been able to just move on to his next life. Now, though, he was stuck here. Forever.
Cas drew in a wavering breath, fresh tears rolling down his face. "Y… Y-You were just trying t… to save my life…"
"I- I know, but… Was it really worth being trapped here?" Halm's voice was quiet, hand stopping in Cas's hair and just cupping his head.
Cas hiccuped and rubbed at his eyes with one fist. "I… I-I dunno… I mean, I'd have ended up here either way, technically speaking…"
"But you would've been able to move on. You wouldn't have to stay with me…" Ham pulled one hand away from Cas, lightly wiping his lingering tears away.
Cas shrugged and hiccuped again. "I-I dunno… I just… I have no idea how to feel right now…"
"Okay then," Halm said softly. He gently held Cas's head in his hand, nodding a little.
"You don't have to figure it out right now." Halm pulled Cas a little closer again, trying his best to be helpful.
Cas nodded, rubbing at his eyes weakly. He closed his eyes and sighed, just allowing Halm to hold him.
Halm gently rubbed Cas's back, being careful with him. He didn't want to do anything to hurt Cas.
"I'm sorry," he said again quietly, barely above a whisper.
Cas didn't reply. He buried his face in Halm's chest and clung tightly to him, still clearly upset.
Halm curled around Cas a little, almost burying him with care. He just wanted Cas to feel better, and wondered to himself if he should just influence Cas's emotions.
Cas slowly began relaxing and he was breathing easier. Soon enough, he seemed to have passed out in Halm's arms.
Halm looked down when he felt Cas relaxing, seeing that he was seeming unconscious. He carefully shifted his hold on Cas, cradling him in one arm. He gathered up all his supplies, making his way back to the house. He held Cas close to himself, concerned for him.
Cas huddled close to Halm in his sleep, his subconscious clearly looking to steal warmth just as much as he normally did. He seemed stable, though his breathing was a bit ragged and he had tear tracks staining his cheeks.
Halm set everything else down when he got inside, bringing Cas over to the couch. He sat down, holding Cas close. He gently wiped Cas's checks off, a little worried.
"Please be okay," he mumbled softly.
Cas huddled close, staying asleep for now. He was limp in Halm's arms and didn't look like he planned on waking up any time soon.
Halm sighed softly. He couldn't wait until Cas woke up to keep working… He stood again, tucking Cas in his her like he had before. He buttoned it up this time, making sure Cas would be able to still see out. By the time he had finished adjusting, he was carrying Cas like one might a kitten under their hoodie. He made his way outside again, getting back to work.
