Halm paused in his work, wrapping one arm around Cas for a moment. He looked so much more calmer now that he was asleep.
"I wish you could feel this good all the time," Halm mumbled, mostly to himself.
Cas tucked his head under Halm's chin and sighed contentedly in his sleep. He didn't normally get to be so warm when he was sleeping, so his subconscious was pretty happy with it.
Halm reached up to gently pat Cas's head, working still. Most of his time was work. It had been completely by chance he had managed to get free time to go to earth and meet Cas. Eventually he finished, heading inside to make some dinner.
Cas was stirring a bit by the time Halm went back inside. He yawned and whined quietly as he shifted around.
Halm put one arm around Cas, eyes drooping lightly. His movements were sluggish as he prepared dinner, and he yawned quietly.
Cas stirred again and opened his eyes. He seemed startled at first and looked around to try and figure out what was going on. "Am I small again??"
"No," Halm said, voice soft and drawn out. "I just didn't think it would be a good idea to leave you alone, just in case. Besides, dinner is almost ready."
"Oh… okay. How do I get down?" Cas asked nervously, shifting around a bit.
"Here," Halm mumbled. He undid his jacket, letting Cas down.
"Better?"
Cas stumbled a bit upon landing and nodded. "Um… y-yeah. Thanks." He steadied himself and tried to look over the counter to see what Halm was doing.
Halm was cooking a plain dinner, just heating up some leftover spaghetti sauce and boiling noodles.
"I hope this is okay," he said.
"Whatever it is, I'm sure it's fine." Cas still couldn't see when standing on his toes, so he just stood normally.
"Just some spaghetti and noodles," Halm clarifed. After a moment more he plated some for both of them, heading to the table.
"I'll deal with your chair now if you want," Halm said, yawning a little again.
"Um… okay." Cas stood back so he wouldn't be in the way, watching Halm curiously.
Halm set the plates down on the table, turning his attention to the chair. For now he would have to just adjust it to the table, but later he was planning on making the table shorter too. He placed his hand on the chair, making it to where Cas would be able to sit comfortably at the table. Still, it was more like a high chair compared to the table.
When Halm was done, Cas crawled up into the chair, huffing a bit by the time he got up. Despite the hassle, he was actually able to sit instead of kneeling now.
Halm would have said something, probably an apology, but he just say down, beginning to eat quietly.
Cas started eating quietly as well, avoiding eye contact with Halm. He really wasn't used to living with another person.
Halm looked up at Cas occasionally, but mostly he figured on his food. He finished quickly, despite his tiredness or because of it, and got up, dealing with his plate. When he was done with that, he made his way over to the refrigerator, pulling it a glass of silvery liquid. He downed it quickly.
When Cas finished, he grabbed his plate and subconsciously slid off his chair, forgetting how tall it was. He yelped and tumbled to the ground, still holding the plate.
Halm jumped a little when Cas fell. He took two large strides over, kneeling down next to Cas.
"Are you okay?" He asked, looking concerned.
"Yeah, yeah… forgot it's not a normal chair…" Cas seemed a little dazed, but overall okay. "I don't think I broke the plate, anyway…"
"I'm more concerned about you then the plate," Halm said. He offered his hand to help, looking Cas over once just to make sure.
Cas allowed Halm to help him up and sighed. "I'm fine… I'm fine… sorry."
