"There's nothing to be sorry about," Halm said. He stood, making sure Cas was okay before taking the plate and putting it away. "I'm just glad you weren't hurt."
"There's nothing to be sorry about," Halm said. He stood, making sure Cas was okay before taking the plate and putting it away. "I'm just glad you weren't hurt."
Cas nodded, flushing a bit and following Halm over to the sink. He wasn't sure what to do with himself, so he was just kind of tailing Halm everywhere.
Halm looked over to see Cas following him, then turned to face him.
"I'm… Gonna be heading to bed soon," he said.
"Alright, um… I should probably do the same." Cas fidgeted a bit, staring at the ground.
"Okay then. My room is at the end of the hallway. Feel free to just come in if you need something, anything at all." Halm shuffled out of the kitchen, going to his room and almost collapsing on his bed.
Cas nodded, hesitating before heading off to his own room and changing into more comfortable clothes. He lay down on his bed and sighed.
Halm was soon asleep, sprawled unceremoniously across the bed.
At some point during the middle of the night, Cas stirred. He heard thousands of soft whispers clamoring over one another and was immediately disturbed. He felt a strange tugging feeling in his chest and stood up. He couldn't stay here alone. He quietly made his way to Halm's room and knocked on the door.
Halm stirred at the knock, sitting up slowly. It took him a moment to remember Cas was living with him now.
"Come in," he said, running his hand through his hair.
Cas pushed open the door and tentatively came in. "Um… h-hi… sorry to wake you…" He said softly.
"It's fine," Halm said, looking over at Cas. "Do you need my help with something?"
"Um… I woke up and I kept hearing these creepy whispers and like… a weird… um, tugging, I guess? Like, my chest was doing the tugging… it kinda freaked me out."
Halm pursed his lips, thinking.
"I can see why," he said softly to himself. He want really sure what was going on. "I think it would be safer if you slept with me to night. I don't want anything to happen to you, and it would be easier for me to tell what was going on if it happened again if I'm with you."
Cas nodded and managed to crawl onto the bed with a little difficulty. "Am I hearing the souls?" He asked tentatively while he tucked himself into the covers.
"That's a strong possibility," Halm noted. He himself got under the covers, still looking concerned.
"It's the tugging I'm worried about," he admitted.
"Mm… why's that?" Cas huddled close to Halm for warmth and yawned. He was clearly exhausted and was none too pleased at having been woken up in the middle of the night by the creepy whisperings of souls.
"The whispers can easily be explained away." Halm laid down completely, facing Cas.
"But the tugging… The things that I can think of aren't very good." He spoke softly, a dull whisper. They both needed their sleep.
"Mmm…" Cas yawned and closed his eyes. "Let's talk about it… in the mornin'…" He shifted to be more comfortable and soon drifted off to sleep again.
Halm put one arm over Cas as he slept, holding him close subconsciously. He woke up in the morning like that, both arms around Cas.
Cas was huddled close to Halm again, seeming content. He wasn't shivering and he hadn't woken up again.
Halm lightly patted Cas's head before gently pulling his arms away, sitting up.
Cas whined softly when Halm pulled away, starting to shiver lightly.
Halm tucked Cas in more with the blanket, being gentle with him.
Cas yawned and huddled into the blankets, smiling softly. He settled back down and sighed.
Halm stood and stretched, getting ready for the day.
