Tohru tilted his head.
“You say that, but it still sucks. I’m glad I can provide you some company, though I don’t make the best company as well… as someone who tried to hunt you down. It doesn’t feel like a knife at your throat? That I could give you to the resistance if I wanted to?”
"I've been in that position before, where someone used what I am to keep me tied down. So far…you haven't been like him." Davin replied slowly.
“I’m glad, but… I wish I didn’t have that leverage. I would never use it. I’m not that impulsive that I’d do it on a whim. But it still feels wrong,” Tohru admitted.
He shrugged a little. "It's what I risk by telling anyone, Tohru. I don't…there's nothing that can be done about it."
“Okay, fair enough,” Tohru sighed, “But I forced you to reveal your identity. It’s not great, but I guess we should make the most of it.”
He shrugged a little bit. "Considering the context that happened in…you probably would have found out anyways."
“Ah… well… yeah…” Tohru sighed, “I’m not forward enough to pick anyone up at a party though. Or go to a party, for that matter.”
His voice lightened up a little bit.
“I think you’re pretty cool, and well… we wouldn’t have met if not for all of this.”
"Ha. Well. It's fun enough." he replied with a faint smile, looking over at him. "I think you're pretty cool too."
Tohru smiled a bit.
He’s just saying that, right?
“Ah… thanks…”
He thought back to that night. Tohru almost wished they could dance together again, but it didn’t seem appropriate at this point.
Davin nodded a little, looking over at him with a little smile on his face. "Of course."
Tohru leaned back in the chair.
“Oh yeah, any luck with work?”
"Not yet, but I only sent out a resume a few hours ago. I don't expect any replies until tomorrow." he replied.
“I sent a few in a bit ago. Got a couple of automated responses saying the positions had closed, but we’ll see,” Tohru said, “I hope you’ll have more luck than that.”
"Alright. Me too, otherwise we aren't going to be able to pay the rent." he chuckled faintly, shaking his head.
“Yeah. I have some in savings, but not a ton. Worst case scenario though, I pick up a couple of bounties quietly,” Tohru said, “It’s not ideal, but it’s doable.”
(Gtg, bye!)
Davin nodded a little bit. "Yeah. We just have to hope we find some halfway decent jobs."
(See you!)
“Yeah, and if not, it’ll just be like I said. That’s how I lived before. It’s not a huge deal,” Tohru replied, “I’m sure we can find something though.”
(see ya!)
"Alright. And yeah, it won't be the end of the world. I just…I don't know." he shook his ehad a little, letting out a faint breath.
“Has it happened before? Where you tried to settle somewhere and couldn’t find work?” Tohru asked.
"Yeah. I just have to move on eventually, while I've still got the funds too." He replied with a shrug, looking down at his hands for a moment.
“Yeah… But between the two of us, we should be fine,” Tohru said, partially to reassure himself, “I’d hate to have to move because of something like that.”
Davin shrugged. "We're going to have to move on eventually." He replied, looking over at Tohru.
“Yeah, bit draining our funds in the process isn’t great,” Tohru sighed, “I always have some money to spare in case of emergency.”
Davin nodded. "I can…I know how to get into the Kaythani's old funds and use that. I just…prefer not to."
“Well, great. We’ll avoid it,” Tohru said, “And know it’s there as last resort.”
He paused for a second.
“I actually… might look into some bounties to collect, just in case none of my jobs pan out.”
