"Er… I guess." Cas got out of the water and immediately started shivering. "P-Pretty chilly…"
Nick was a bit cold as well, so he started a flame in his palm to act like a campfire or something and warm them up.
Cas huddled near him for the warmth and sighed, still shivering. He wished he wasn't still susceptible to cold with his powers, but alas, here he was.
“Is this helping?” Nick asked, looking at Cas as he continued to let the flames burn. He kept them small and controlled, but enough to help warm them.
"Mhmm… is there any way to make it bigger without burning anything?" He asked, eyeing the flame.
Nick nodded. “If I’m careful.” He concentrated, making the fire grow slightly bigger, so that it was the size of his hand. “Is that better?”
"A little." Cas hummed, laying his head on Nick's shoulder. "You're warm~" He practically purred, closing his eyes contentedly.
Nick smiled. He didn’t want to have to return to his family. He imagined just running away with Cas, but knew he couldn’t do that for the havoc it would end of wrecking. Their lives weren’t the only ones in the balance.
Cas seemed to be beginning to nod off, getting comfortable against Nick. He felt cold, though that was pretty normal for him.
They weren’t in a huge hurry, so Nick let Cas fall asleep. He put his arm that wasn’t controlling the fire around Cas.
Cas curled up against Nick's side and drifted off to sleep, exhausted from thrashing about in the water.
Nick had never really been able to take good naps, so he just let his mind wander for a while, eventually extinguishing the fire and putting both arms around Cas.
Cas woke up soon after the fire went out and looked up at Nick. "Hey… did I fall asleep?"
“Yeah, but not for too long,” Nick responded. “Are you mostly dry now?”
Cas patted himself down to see. "Yeah, mostly." He stood up with a soft grunt and stretched, bending to pick up his clothes.
Nick stood as well and began putting his own clothes on, first his pants and then buttoning up his shirt. He slipped his shoes and socks on last.
Cas got dressed and pulled his hood over his head. "Ready to go, Nick?"
He nodded. “Yeah, let’s go,” he responded, starting to go back the way they had come.
Cas followed Nick back the way they'd came, keeping an eye out to make sure they weren't being watched or followed.
Nick took a wrong turn once or twice and had to backtrack, but other than that he made it back with relatively little difficulty. Soon enough they were back where’d they’d started, staring up at the tree which they’d used to climb down.
"…How do we get up?" Cas asked incredulously, standing beside the trunk.
“I can probably climb back up…” he muttered. “Or we could just sneak back in the front.” He looked at Cas, a bit nervous.
"I dunno if I can climb that well… is there a side entrance or anything?" He turned to Nick.
“Hmm…yes! Actually, there is,” he said, remembering it. “No one ever uses it so I forgot. Let’s go!” He led the other boy to the side entrance.
Cas breathed a sigh of relief and followed Nick in, glancing around to make sure no one saw them.
