"Hah… I seem to have a lot of those, don't I?" He laughed weakly, burying his face in Nick's shoulder.
"Hah… I seem to have a lot of those, don't I?" He laughed weakly, burying his face in Nick's shoulder.
“You’re not a wuss,” Nick repeated, his tone more soothing now. “You just have lot of a challenges and obstacles right now. But I’ll be right here whenever it gets to be too much.”
Cas nodded and hugged Nick a bit tighter. "I… thanks."
“Of course,” Nick said, blushing. He just wanted Cas to be happy, and Nick was glad that at least in this aspect, he was doing better.
"We'll need to make some long term plans… like I mentioned before, I can't stay with your kingdom forever."
Nick frowned. “Yeah, that’s true. What do you think you’re going to do? You can’t go back to your father…”
Cas shrugged. "Maybe he'll cool off eventually, I dunno… I'm not sure if we can get him to stop."
“I don’t know…” Nick mumbled. “I don’t like the idea of you going with him. I’d rather you find a way that doesn’t entail that, if possible.”
"There's no other heir. I've got to go back at some point, if only for the sake of my kingdom." Cas sighed, looking at the water.
Nick frowned. He knew that if were possible from them to make a marriage alliance, it could potentially solve some of their problems, but their parents would never agree to it, so he didn’t even bring up the thought. Besides, they’d just met, even thinking of that was too fast anyway. Of course his father did plan on marrying him off to someone he’d met only once. “You’re right about that,” he admitted with a sigh. But how would Cas’s father react to his son disappearing and then just coming back? “I don’t know what else you could do…”
(Heyyyy I was thinking about a marriage alliance too :D)
"I don't know either… I don't know if there's much I can do. That's just how it is." Cas ran his fingers through his wet hair anxiously. "I'm scared, but I gotta do what's best for my kingdom. That's my duty as the prince."
(great minds think alike :DDD)
“We can’t just give up though,” Nick sighed, sounding defeated. “There has to be something we can do. Maybe we just haven’t thought of it yet.” If only our dads weren’t such bigots, he sighed internally.
"I hope so… I'm not looking the prospects of facing my father right now." Cas sighed again, almost inaudibly. "At the very least, I get to spend some time with you before he chews me out."
Nick really didn’t want Cas to get hurt, and he was certain that Cas’s dad would hurt him after Cas had practically disappeared. He was scared for the other boy, and his mind whirred as he tried to think. The idea of a marriage alliance resurfaced but he couldn’t dwell on that. “Yeah…” he sighed, looking into Cas’s eyes.
"I wish we could just stay here forever… where no one can hurt us. No one can stop us from doing whatever we want." He kissed Nick gently.
Nick kissed him back, wishing the same thing. He wanted Cas to be safe and happy so bad it made his heart ache. He tried to relax, but how could he when he knew that soon enough Cas would have to go back to his father?
Cas lay one hand on Nick's chest and let the other fall loosely into his lap as he kept kissing Nick. He seemed content and he was trying his best to not think about his father.
Nick cupped Cas’s face in his hands, slowly beginning to think about the present instead of worrying. How could he ever think of anything besides Cas, he wondered?
Cas eventually pulled away and mumbled something incoherently, hugging Nick. He tucked his head under the other's chin to get more comfortable.
“What?” Nick asked, confused by the mumbling. He hugged Cas back, keeping the boy wrapped in his embrace.
"Nothing… just… talking to myself." Cas lied convincingly enough, keeping his face hidden.
Nick raised an eyebrow, but bought it. "Okay, if you say so," he said. "But if you need to talk, I'm here."
Cas nodded, relieved Nick didn't push it. It was too early to be saying what he said anyways… He didn't want to make Nick uncomfortable, but he couldn't keep himself from thinking it.
I love you.
The thought of a marriage alliance came to Nick again, unbidden. Maybe he could bring it up? He just hoped that Cas wouldn't freak out over it. The worst that could happen was he'd instantly shoot Nick down, right? Only one way to know… "So there might be one way we could get our kingdoms to stop fighting…" he mumbled.
"Really?" Cas looked up at Nick. "What is it?" He tucked some of his soaked hair behind his ear so it wasn't in his face.
