"I don't know how well it would work, though," Nick hedged, suddenly really nervous now that he'd decided to tell Cas his idea. He didn't want to seem like a weirdo.
"I don't know how well it would work, though," Nick hedged, suddenly really nervous now that he'd decided to tell Cas his idea. He didn't want to seem like a weirdo.
"Well, it has to be better than our last idea." Cas shrugged, still fixing his eyes intently on Nick's face.
Nick sighed. "Okay, well, what if we formed a marriage alliance between our kingdoms? Then there wouldn't be fighting and you wouldn't have to go back to your father…" he said it all in a rush, ending with a rush of heat to his face.
Cas took a moment to process what Nick was saying, blushing once he understood. "I… I'd be up for it, but I don't think my dad would agree to it…"
For a moment, Nick didn't say anything. He'd been expecting several different outcomes but not this. "Maybe there's a loophole somewhere? We could probably find one. Jane's smart; she could help," he offered hopefully.
"What kind of loophole would trick my abusive, homophobic father into allowing me to marry a man?"
Nick winced. "I meant find a loophole where your father doesn't have to know?" he suggested quietly. "I don't know…like I said, Jane is better at this kind of thing than me."
"But how could he possibly not notice an alliance? I think we need to work out a few kinks for this to actually work."
"Right…there's definitely a lot of kinks here," Nick agreed with a nod. "But you think there's a shot it would work?"
"Maybe…" Cas hummed. "I suppose it's worth a try. He wouldn't kill me. Like I said, there's not another heir, so he can't."
"We could use that fact as leverage, possibly," Nick said, several different (though not necessarily doable or sensible) strategies played out in his head.
"Well, that doesn't mean he won't beat me within an inch of his life if it fails."
"Okay, well that's definitely not something we can risk," Nick said. "Before we make any sort of move, we have to be sure that it won't mess everything up." But how could they possibly come out on top if they didn't risk anything? Nick wasn't sure what to do yet, but he was sure he could think of something.
Cas shrugged. "I'd survive, I guess, and we could always find another way to pull it off once I healed."
"Yes but you'd be in danger because of him," Nick sighed. "I can't do that to you."
"If it's the only way, I'm okay with it." Cas said simply, though he didn't make eye contact with Nick.
"Then I'm going to do everything in my power to make it so that is not the only way," Nick responded.
Cas glanced up at Nick, grateful, but also scared. "I hope we can find a way to make this work…"
Nick sighed, nervous. “Me too,” he agreed. “And I’m going to do everything I can to keep you safe in the process.”
Cas nodded. "Thanks…" He said quietly, his gaze fixed upon Nick's.
(lol i think you mean Nick’s)
“Of course,” he said, softening. “I don’t want anyone to get hurt.” Especially you.
(Fuck I'm in too many roleplays lol)
"That's good… I don't particularly like being hurt." He laughed weakly and was quiet for a moment. "We should probably get dressed soon."
Nick blinked, forgetting that they weren’t wearing more than underwear currently. He laughed quietly. “Yeah, we probably should,” he agreed somewhat reluctantly.
"How are we going to, though? We'll get our pants all wet." Cas glanced over to where their clothes were.
“We can go dry off first,” Nick suggested. “Like lay there like we’re suntanning or something?”
