Nick laughed. “My plan was that we strip down to our underwear but if you want to swim in your clothes then go for it,” he replied, taking off his shirt.
Nick laughed. “My plan was that we strip down to our underwear but if you want to swim in your clothes then go for it,” he replied, taking off his shirt.
Cas blushed, hesitating before carefully taking off his shirt. He was very pale, and his freckles stood out against his skin.
Nick cast him a smile before taking off his pants so he left standing in his boxers. He was blushing too but it was harder to tell. Then he quickly jumped into the water with a laugh.
(idk if boxers exist in fantasy-medieval stuff but whatever lol)
Cas blushed bright red when he slowly pulled his pants off, leaving him in only boxers as well. He waded out to where Nick was in the water until he was about waist deep. "Is… is now a bad time to mention that I don't know how to swim?"
Nick shook his hair out, droplets of water going in every direction. “Maybe,” he admitted. “Maybe I can help.” He swam over to where Cas was.
Cas stepped closer to Nick and yelped when he fell underwater. The bottom of the pond dropped off more suddenly than he expected.
Nick’s eyes widened and he instantly scooped Cas up, thankful that it was shallow there, and carried him to the edge of the lake. “You okay?”
Cas coughed for a moment and nodded. "Yeah… m'good…" He held tightly to Nick so he wouldn't fall again, eyeing the water warily.
“So maybe we don’t swim then?” Nick offered, sitting down on the edge of the edge of the water.
"I mean, we can, I just can't do it alone…" Cas started shivering from the cold air against his wet skin.
“If you’re cold, we can stop,” Nick added, his eyes brimming with concern.
"I'm only cold because I'm wet and we're not in the water much at the moment. I'm fine." Cas moved some of his wet hair out of his eyes.
Nick gave him a small smile. “Okay, if you’re fine with it then let’s go back in.” He waded in, but too deep this time.
Cas held tighter to Nick so he wouldn't sink, though he didn't make much attempt to actually try and swim.
“Do you know how to float?” Nick asked, not in a mocking tone. He genuinely just wanted to know.
Cas shook his head. "I've heard fat floats and I haven't got much fat to help."
Nick laughed. “That explains why I float,” he joked, being the more stocky of the pair. “Kidding. Anyway, I can teach you how.”
"You're not fat… you're healthy." Cas huffed, not moving away from Nick. "I dunno, man. It's kinda deep."
“I’m here, just in case,” Nick coaxed. Nick smiled, a bit excited by the prospect of helping Cas learn to float. “Floating is easier than swimming.”
"Well, I'm not letting go until you tell me how to do it." Cas looked down at the water, seeming a bit nervous.
“Okay, so you have to get on your back first and then you have to breathe, just pretend that you’re filling up with air, causing you to float,” Nick instructed. “If you think about floating it should work. And I’ll hold you up at first until you’re ready for me let go.”
Cas nodded and hesitantly released Nick. He held his breath as he flipped onto his back, trembling. He was tiny, so it was hard to spread out and float effectively, especially since he was scared, but it was sort of working.
Nick stood right next to Cas, his hands inches away in case the other boy started to sink. He smiled at how Cas seemed to be doing okay so far.
Cas eventually had to exhale shakily and panicked as he started sinking. "Nick-!"
Nick caught him, his strong hands around Cas’s middle. “I’ve got you,” he said, holding the other boy in place so he wouldn’t fall.
