@Musical_Queen

It's weird to think that so many people are more excited for my birthday than I am. They keep asking me "What are you going to do" and I'm just sitting here like "Listen my man, both my parents are at high risk for the virus, we don't leave the house. So, I will most likely be in zoom call my sister for our regularly scheduled movie night and taking an exam for my online class."

Anyone have any tips to stop crying.

It depends. Sometimes it's best to not stop crying, instead just let it all out, then take a deep breath and splash your face with some cold water.

But if you really need to stop for whatever reason, then you can try tilting your head up a bit, tensing your muscles (except for your face ones, keep those as relaxed as you can), blinking repeatedly, squared breathing, or all of those at once. Then of course take those deep breaths and splash your face with some cold water.

Binge eating can also help but I don't recommend it as you'll often feel worse afterwards. Or at least I do.

It's when you breathe in a square

You slowly count to four in your head while inhaling through your nose, hold it for the same count of 4, then exhale through your mouth for that count of four, and count to four again before repeating.

There are multiple other breathing tricks like the 4-7-8 one (inhale 4, hold 7, exhale 8) or 7-11 (inhale 7, exhale 11) which can do the same thing
It just calms you down and helps you focus on your breathing instead of whatever might be wrong
Also works for falling asleep

Deep breaths and drink water

Drinking water makes me feel like I'm choking though, is that normal? (Apologies for asking seemingly stupid questions but I have no brain and am too lazy to research this atm)

Thank you, I'll try that.

Not all the time it shouldn't, but I guess when you have a knot in your throat it might

@Pickles group

Aah, thank you Pickles!

You can wait until it shrinks a little and try. Or you can try just swallowing nothing if that feels better. It's a comfort thing from breastfeeding when we were babies, iirc. But you might not want to think about that while you're trying not to cry

But yeah if you feel like you're choking when you drink water normally, you're either doing it wrong or you should see a doctor
