Hey, friends!
Heavy spoiler warning for Winter by Marissa Meyer!!!
Carswell Thorne
He had
A dreamy smile that has wooed many a person.
Eyes like the blue, blue seas of Earth
And hair as voluminous as its waves.
That’s what he’d say.
But if a person looked deeper they’d see
That there’s a strain to his smile.
Sadness in his eyes.
(His hair didn’t change a bit.)
He threw around the phrase “I love you” like confetti.
And it sure did end up leaving a mess of broken hearts
Like those of a janitor when confetti is involved in something.
He said it to one girl.
Two girls.
…
Twenty three girls?
Aces, when did the number escalate that much?
He broke laws like people broke glowsticks
And the results were bright at first, but soon dimmed.
A spaceship of his own
And
…prison time.
Perfect.
But that’s where he got dragged into the revolution.
He was blind once.
That’s when he fell (quite literally) in love with her.
He couldn’t see her.
Didn’t even know what she looked like other than one, two glimpses of her,
Once over a portscreen
And once in person.
But he could hear her voice
Eager and slightly awe-filled as she talked to him
As they staggered through the desert.
The revolution had barely started, and he had lost her in the first battle.
She had stayed behind.
Stars, why did he let her stay behind?
He knew he should have been happy
Seeming Scarlet and Wolf reunite.
But he couldn’t help but feel a twinge of envy.
Why couldn’t it have been him and Cress instead?
They were together again, and torn back apart.
He knew what he was doing, but he couldn’t stop it.
He couldn’t stop Levana from forcing him to force the knife into Cress.
His Cress, who had shot off two of his fingers during the same battle.
He still loved her.
He held her in his arms.
Her limp, bloodied body.
So small and still.
Thorne’s tears mixed with Cress’s blood,
Blood soaking through the orange material of her gaudy outfit.
The wings stretching to her hands made her look like an angel,
But he wouldn’t let himself think of her as one.
That would imply that she was dead
And he wouldn’t let her die.
She looked up at him, her blue eyes swimming with tears
An expression that said
“If I have to die, I’m glad it’s in your arms.”
And she whispered,
“I love you.”
As her eyes closed.
And across the throne room, he vaguely heard Cinder scream.
I really gotta read those books, damn
A poem! Sorry, mine are pretty short…
words
plants whisper them.
animals cannot speak them.
and humans? they abuse them.
they dispose of words as if it’s one of their gadgets, the tiny plastic trinkets that they seem to adore.
they throw them around, lacking any sort of grace or finesse, and end up tripping on them afterward.
their words lack any true power or magic of any sort.
yet they fancy themselves a modern Prometheus
cobbling together poems of starlight and sunshine and dewdrops into something much greater
when the words were just fine on their own.
DUDE
those last three lines hit me like a fucking truck holy shit
Wow, that makes you think a lot about what you say, and how we use words
Yeah… woah.
aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh
guys, thank you so much!!
It's really good!
ugh i love thorne sm that’s my boi

I can understand that
Maybe we're all just satellites
Drifting through space
Some of us on set paths and others who just chase
What catches their eye
We pass each other, pass others, from time to time
And then we're back on our own
It's a vast emptiness we're trapped in
Searching for signs of life
Or something to justify what we do
ANOTHER BAD POEM. PART II WILL BE OUT AS SOON AS I CAN THINK

Awww this is so cute!!!!!
It's kinda sad, but pt II is gonna be like a counter argument soooo
I love it. I have one poem but no one here would understand it cause it refers to a book. A big book. Like, 1000 pages+ size book. Three of them…. and seven more to come. Ha ha.
lmao
Ah, here's one.
The clock ticks on the wall
Light footsteps come from the hall
I sit at my desk, staring blankly at my screen
No longer sure how many minutes it's been
Glancing to the side I examine my class
Ignoring those few girls that are so full of sass
I spot the table where my best friend sits
We were torn apart and I nearly called quits
My teacher sits at his desk
Ugh… that face just looks so grotesque
I know it's rude, but I hate him so
Now how many times must I ask, CAN I PLEASE JUST GO?
