She returned his smile with one of her own. "I love you too."
She returned his smile with one of her own. "I love you too."
"Maybe I could just fly around as fast as I can," he mused. "and I'd be so fast no one could touch me."
She tilted her head. "You don't mean to turn into your dragon. It's morning." She held up her hand and frowned as she inspected it, seeming to come up with a plan of her own.
Runner shrugged. "It's itching to be let out. It's been a good week or so since I've actually switched."
She nodded. "I suppose I'll have to release the beast as well." She scrunched up her nose in distaste. "It's around that time."
He poked her nose. "I'll keep you in check, need be."
She playfully batted his hand away. "Doubtful. It's the reason I was kicked out of most of my foster families. If they didn't know what I was, they did then." Her eyes lit up as a thought popped up. "Fassor. Oh, that bastards gonna get it first."
"Ah, but were they dragons, too?" he asked, lacing his hand back through her fingers. "
She snorted and moved so she was leaning against him. "No. Just regular humans. Y'know, I have Cleisiophobia–or whatever the fuck the doctors called it–because of them. Fear of being locked in an enclosed space. It's mostly underground for me. Basements, closets, whatever they could use to keep me out of the sunlight."
"You'd have a crisis if you ever went to jail. I'd feel bad for whoever was bunking with you."
"I've been locked up a total of three times. First time was when I was twelve, which I told you about. Second time was when I was fifteen. I was framed and… forced… to be taken by the feds." Her eyes flickered briefly with a haunted look, then went back to her normal self. "Third time was on my sixteenth birthday. I killed my old foster brother. Fuckwad deserved it."
He chuckled. "I don't know why, but the word 'fuckwad' always makes me laugh without fail."
She grinned up at him. "Why do you think I like using it?"
His hair was starting to get into his eyes, so he parted it back to where it normally goes. "Makes sense, I guess."
Suddenly, Tessa twisted around in her seat and leaned against the back of the couch, looking behind it. "What are you two rugrats doing here?" Twin giggles from behind were her only answer. A smile bloomed across her lips.
(I nearly cried watching the Passenger again last night)
"Hm?" He craned his head back to try as see as well.
(Never seen it)
(Idk why, but when I'm tired it's so easy to make me cry)
Two little kids with identical big brown eyes looked up at them with big smiles–one boy and one girl.
Tessa attempted to put authority in her voice. "Aydan, Nadya. Does your father know you two are here?"
They shook their heads vigorously, then bounced on their feet. "Noooo," Aydan said slowly. "But Woofie does," Nadya finished.
Tessa sighed, but couldn't hold back her smile. "Kids," she said while shaking her head.
"Hey, I'm still a kid. You got a problem with me?" He asked, crossing his arms over his chest in fake offense.
She raised a brow at him. "You're seventeen–they're five. I'd hardly call you a kid." She smirked. "Plus, they're way more adorable than you are."
The twins nodded their heads in unison. "Mhm, mhm, mhm!"
"Oh, is that the case?" He stood up and made a huge deal of turning his back to her.
"Tessie, Tessie, Tessie!! Aunt Thia wants you!" The twins said while jumping up and down. "We forgot," Aydan said with an adorable pout.
Tess reached over the couch and ruffled his hair affectionately. "It's okay. But stay out of trouble!" she warned while they took off without so much as a goodbye, giggling and squealing. She then turned to Runner and rolled her eyes. "Men." She started to get off the couch to meet Cinthia.
"What about them?" he asked without turning around.
