He began running his hands up and down her lower leg absentmindedly, zoned out.
Goosebumps popped up wherever he touched her, but she pretended it didn't affect her as she finally took the plate and set it on her stomach, eating the cake from there. She started with the strawberries, popping them in her mouth one at a time and savoring each one.
The sound of her eating broke him out of his stupor, smiling over at her. "Can you eat any louder?"
She purposely smacked her lips as she ate another strawberry, being as loud and obnoxious as she could. She stared him down as she did so.
He shook his head, chuckling lightly. "Weirdo."
She grinned and handed him one. "You want one? I'm willing to share."
He shook his head. "I don't like strawberries. It's the texture, not the taste."
She feigned a look of disgust as she held a hand to her heart. "Don't like–I can't be seen around you. Like. Ever."
He began to stand up. "Well, if that's the case…"
She stopped him with her legs. "Kidding, smartass."
He smirked, settling back into the couch.
She moved onto the actual cake. "That girl you saw…" she started, inviting a confession should he want one. Another peek into her past.
He shook his head. "That's something for another time." Runner resumed rubbing her leg.
She seemed to quietly purr at the touch as she ate, and was secretly glad he didn't want to talk about it.
"You're a very odd person." He said randomly.
She flicked her eyes up at him, pausing midbite. "Huh?"
"You're purring because I'm rubbing your leg."
She blinked. And blinked again. "And so what if I am? You get weirded out by me touching your back."
"But that's a normal thing." He gave her a playful smile.
She smirked. "But I'm not normal." Her pupils briefly turned to dragon-like slits and the iris seemed to glow, then it all went back to normal.
"And I'd never ask you to change," he said, winking at her.
"Get a room you two." The lion girl from earlier approached, crossing her arms over her chest as she approached them. Tessa didn't seem to be disturbed by the girl, instead sticking out her tongue at her.
"I still don't know your name," he said, tilting his head at the girl.
"Zia. A sphynx, before you ask." Her feathered wings ruffled slightly, and her four lion legs shifted to face him head-on. "Just wanted to congratulate you. That was an impressive debut."
