A strange brown that seems almost… red. It seems like a false color, like colored contact lenses.
This is in fact, true. Most of the time, Akasha wears colored contacts to give her brown eyes. Her real eye color is that of rain.
Raven black
Long hair, straight
German
The number 273 burned into the back of her neck, marking her time as a prisoner in Ma’luum.
Above her heart is a tattoo of the words, “And my beloved is mine” with the date of her wedding beneath them.
She is often referred to as "the lady in white", one of her nicknames earned for primarily wearing white clothing with hints of black or red in her accessories. White is traditionally the color of purity and innocence, which - like the entirety of Akasha's exterior - is a mask to hide her true nature. White is also the color of goodness, while darkness is the color of evil - yet few would dispute the wickedness that crouches in the woman's bosom.
She carries herself in the manner of someone who is seldom refused and never disobeyed, and accentuates her physical beauty to further manipulate the people who find her attractive - typically heterosexual men. She seems never to age and exudes a sense of mystery and power.
The best description one could offer about Akasha Bloodmare is that she's like poison honey. At first, she comes across as something of a saint in that she's well mannered and compassionate, offering a helping hand whenever needed without asking for anything in return. Her very presence is warm and inviting, with a likeness to an angel or even a kindred goddess. One would never guess that she always has ulterior motives. Akasha never does anything without a reason; she's an extremely manipulative person, demonstrating symptoms of clinical psychopathy, and is willing to do anything to forward her own agenda. As such, she is known to be an unstoppable force when it comes to getting what she wants. She has exhibited clearly amoral and even malevolent tendencies time and time again, including killing one of her former lovers and several family members.
Akasha is not one to let go of a grudge. The second that someone earns her wrath, she will do everything in her power to hurl that individual straight into hell - both mentally and physically. However, earning her favoritism is just as dangerous. She was one of the most well known and feared officers in Ma'luum, a concentration camp run by the Cult of Bane. Unlike other officers whose game was to get the highest kill count at the end of the day, Akasha's end goal was breaking her prisoners over and over and over again, until there was nothing left of their original selves.
In the modern world, she operates much in the same way, but it’s rare for her to reveal her true nature to someone that wasn’t involved with Ma’luum… But given the right circumstances, isn’t impossible. When it comes to publically chasing her chosen target, nothing is beneath her – as she will let her target know that they’re being followed, in a very public way.
Exploring the human condition, torturing others, moving pieces of her game board
Akasha is a vindictive woman not known to let go of a grudge, becoming obsessed with them instead. She will stop at nothing to reap revenge, even at the cost of her own life.
In turning her pain to power, she was corrupted. She became the very thing she hated most. Time has only made her worse. But the truly terrifying reality is that she loves it.
She is a victim of her own desires, be they physical or mental. Thus, she does not always respect the word "no".
Being a victim for so many years with no power to stop it resulted in depression, extreme self-hatred, and unbridled rage that she has never recovered from or rose above. Her hatred has warped her mind into a cold, heartless, and twisted place that is capable of feigning compassion. Violence has helped to curb her rage and has lengthened her fuse, but she is still easily triggered. Being triggered leads to violent reactions.
When angry, Akasha's entire body seethes and her sadism reaches new heights.
For all of her strengths and quirks, she has one crippling flaw. Akasha is a victim of extreme insomnia, staying awake until her body becomes haggard and exhausted until she passes out. This normally lasts for three, sometimes even four days at a time. She can collapse at any time, no matter what she's doing (though she normally has a good idea that it’s coming, and will avoid certain tasks). When she's finally asleep, she'll stay that way for a while - the longest of which was two to three days.
Akasha has adapted to turn her pain into power. The anguish of losing her son and Carmilla fueled her will to survive to avenge them; her own tragedies were turned into reasons for becoming stronger so that she could never be harmed again; the inferiority complex that was forced upon her was overcome with confidence and resilience enough to make Wolfsbane realize her potential, and attract Luvia Bloodmare to her as an aspiring Officer.
When she has attained that power and strength, she became the very monster she hated in the beginning - but worse. She strives to uphold an image and reputation of someone too big to touch.
Now her motivations tend to border on entertainment purposes and in some cases, obsession. Certain actions, however, have different motivations.
PhD in Medicine
Your name is Ataraxia Kirishiki, I remembered telling myself. You were born in an ancient place and a beautiful family that loved you deeply. A family that told stories of a winged mage that brought peace, compassion and love. You trained to be the best doctor the world had ever seen, but not soon enough. Your family perished from the Black Death, and you became a mage - like the one your parents talked about. And you worked tirelessly to find a cure, until you and your team were treating others - sometimes newbies to the cause. In helping to find the cure, you discovered something else - immortality. A potion fueled by the countless deaths, and their souls around you combined with your magic. It was twisted but necessary to finish your work.
You were a field medic in World War 1 for the Ottoman Empire, kidnapped in the line of duty as a spoil of war for the Germans. And I still remember the look on his face, the poisonous whisper of his name. My name is Ataraxia. My name is Ataraxia.
My name is Ataraxia.
Every day, that was my ritual - reminding myself of who I was... Because I was starting to lose sight of who I'd been before this place. The most basic of things were starting to slip like water through my fingers - where I came from, what I did, who my family was. What my name was. Everyday, I was called a number rather than my name. Tormented. Taken against my will. Not once. Not twice. But multiple times, sometimes every day. And it all started when he captured me…
In my dreams, I can recall that day. The empire was already in a ruinous state at the start of the war. I, like the rest of my countrymen, was demoralized and tired. I'd been through the Italo-Turkish War and Balkan Wars already. I recall that we attempted to remain neutral, but it was futile when Russia bombed us. On our last leg, we forged an alliance with germany. We needed them and they needed us. That was how I met Commander Casanovak. He was a leader in the Germany armies, rumored to be half-Russian. He was strong and handsome... But there was always something... Off... About him. With him, I fought many grueling battles. Marne was the worst. Somme was my last. Rather than let me finish tending to the wounded, he lured me away. And that was the last time I saw my countrymen. The last time I was a free woman named Ataraxia, when he took my magic away with braces.
That's how I ended up in Ma'luum, a place no one knew existed. I was thrown to the wolves, but I prevailed somehow. I had been a doctor, yes, but I was raised to be a fighter - and they weren't going to take the fight out of me. Hopeful and needing to survive, I weaseled my way into a group. Made friends with them. I should have known better. One by one, Casanovak tormented us all. Those of us that hadn't died by his hand were driven mad. He pitted us against one another, and it worked. The woman who had become my best friend turned on me, attacked me. I didn't hesitate. With the shiv I'd fashioned to fight back, to protect myself and them, I took Sharon's life.
I must have had ice in my veins to do what I had just done. I expect the ice to melt.
But it doesn't.
It just gets colder... And colder. And I welcome it.
I was never the same after that, molded by the Cult of Bane's hopes and desires. I did as I was told and I survived. Taking lives got easier. As though I were born for it. Cas's torment... Meant less and less, until finally, I laughed at him. I humiliated him.
My name meant nothing. It became lost like all the others. I had lost everything, even the thing that reminded me that I was a woman. I was nothing but a statistic when she walked into my life - a glimpse of something I used to be so many years ago. Carmilla, my beloved Carmilla. I was pregnant with my son at the time, still a mere prisoner. DIdn't love the childs' father... But he might have been growing on me. When Leotova was born, he took that boy from me. Left me.
Budding romance between her and Carmilla that she tries to deny, but fails. Wolfsbane makes her into an officer, a decision he would later regret. Also, a topic of importance, is her first kill.
She can no longer deny her feelings for Carmilla, and the two share a secret romance. In the meantime, she tries to convince the officer she had feelings for that she needs to see her son. Also moral confliction about being able to feel love for two people at once when she's been raised to believe solely in monogamy. Carmilla gets her to remember her name and places importance in it.
Officer Cain refuses to let Ataraxia see Leotova. The fight they have as a result leads to their harsh break up. She must find another way. All the while, her relationship with Carmilla deepens, and she fights to keep that secret. Commander Casanovak, her primary tormentor from when she was a prisoner, is increasingly suspicious.
Ataraxia discovers that her son is being kept and experimented on in the labs, and during her time in that area, she makes a point to visit. Leo is so happy to see her that he starts behaving better. Whatever tests the good doctor is running run much smoother than normal.
8,132 tried to deny Carmilla, as homosexuality was a "sin" punishable by death, but fundamentally caved. She was given her own uniform and guns when she was 28, announcing her name as 'Akasha'. Since then, Officer Akasha has been known as the most ruthless Officer in the camp. At least until the AngelsBane became a commander. Her cold, calculative, unpredictable nature makes her a monster in the eyes of millions. All the while, she tried to keep her relationship with Carmilla a secret, and fought to see her son.
They were discovered eventually, and Akasha was ordered to kill her - to purge herself. Instead, she tried to free Carmilla. Commander Casanovak discovered this and went after her himself. Not wanting to give him the satisfaction of pulling the trigger, her hand was forced to do so. She killed the person that she loved the most. Two years later, her son was killed by Casanovak. Akasha had made him her primary adversary ever since. In the years to follow, she met Luvia Bloodmare - an extraordinary woman, a demon like no other, who feared no one.
No one in the camp questioned or challenged Luvia, nor the group she was from. Luvia Bloodmare came from the age old group, the Shadow Knights, and brought with her a group of mages, espers and dyrads whose enchantments kept the world of Ma'luum shielded away from public eyes. Akasha was drawn to her sadism and... Practically everything else. Before she knew it, the two had become enraptured and fell ever so deeply.
Officers would make a game out of who could get the most kills, but the game(s) that Officer Akasha and Commander Casanovak held were about torment and breaking - games that Akasha was proving herself to be masterful in. When he took to a vampiress named Robin and went to retire with her, Akasha and Luvia went after them. With Casanovak gone... There was no longer anything holding Akasha back. And her games with the Tithiros sisters, their group ("The Gnoll Killers") along with the rest of the unfortunate souls in her camp, were just getting started.
Akasha often told her prisoners to pray to her so that they may be blessed with her mercy, but as a joke. At first, anyway. The inmates eventually came to accept this as routine and took to calling her 'the goddess', so that they might be spared of her wrath. Realizing this, Officer Akasha started 'the cult of Akasha' by the introduction of a book. One fateful morning, she announced that she was writing a book, and separated those who believed her to be a divine being into a group that she called the reine (the pure) and those who didn't into a group called the unreine (impure). She ordered the reine to bring her the materials she needed for the unholy book by slaughtering a specific amount of the unreine - a task they did without question.
She was shot and almost killed by Firia Cefalu pretending to be Officer Reinare, letting Firia free the remainder of their group. Wolfsbane and the Cult soon recaptured them. Back at base, Luvia called her mother. Luvia's mother, Lillian Bloodmare, stepped in to help her daughter revive the mage. In the meantime, the ancient mage took over Akasha's camp. She left it and Akasha's 'prisoners' in a deranged... Life-changing state. The bullet shaped scar remains upon Akasha's forehead as a testament of Lillian's abilities.
Akasha's partnership with Luvia was strained mostly on one front: She did not believe in her beloved's 'fairy tale' faith. In a final attempt to try and make her lover see the truth, Luvia took her to the Knight's base.
Akasha's time in Ma'luum made her an excellent candidate for Knighthood; when the FBI discovered the camps and the Shadow Knights were forced to destroy Ma'luum, Luvia took their small family, along with Akasha's reine, to the states where the elf trained to become a Crescent Knight. Members who had been made into Officers of the reine were also trained as shadow agents, and sent out into the world. Officer Reinare was one such individual. Her death came as a shock to the reine, and Akasha has set out to find her killer... While chasing two of her favorite former kapo.
FATA MORGANA PART ONLY:
One of them was reported dead. Aerallis. A shame, that one. Akasha had always liked Aera.
Despite popular belief however, she was not responsible for Aera’s death.
Akasha is happily married to Luvia Bloodmare, the daughter of the nefarious Impaler and scientist of the Shadow Knights, Lillian Bloodmare. Before the two met in Ma'luum, before Akasha was even an officer and was named Ataraxia, she gave birth to an extremely gifted child that she named Leotova. Ma'luum scientists became interested in the boy and ran experiments on him, but could not contain his powers. Keeping mother and son apart proved to be extremely difficult for the Cult of Bane.
Thinking that he could potentially end his game with Ataraxia, Commander Casanova executed her son beginning Ataraxia's transformation into Akasha.
Present day, Akasha and Luvia have adopted the mage child Vilette Kirishiki and the MPD esper girl, Ishlotte/Sadako Zimnis. The Bloodmare’s also adopted Fallon as an infant. Out of all of their children, she’s the fondest of Fallon and constantly dotes on her. Akasha has no blood family to speak of outside of two children, but Luvia's mother and the Knight “family” have brought Akasha and their kids into the fold.
Akasha has two legitimate children. Leotova is her first born and only son, who is canonically dead but preserved in magic. She’s probably tried to reanimate him into a ghoul but it hasn’t worked. The other child is her only legitimate daughter, who was produced as a result of a lie.
Mage
As a born Mage, Akasha was always aware of the Supernatural Underground but her knowledge of it was limited to espers, mages and merfolk until she was taken into Ma'luum.
Akasha is an extremely seasoned mage, and is a master of elemental magic, black magic, white magic and all of their sub-categories – including lesser forms of time and gravity manipulation - in all of their forms. When she creates items or weapons, she can imbue them with whatever magic she desires, be they elemental or otherwise - enchanted or cursed. Her mastery of the arts is matched by her experience, creativity and sheer skill. But unlike other mages, Akasha is not a glass cannon; when one gets close to engage in hand-to-hand combat, they'll find that not only is she well prepared, but that her physical combat skills can be just as dangerous, if not more dangerous, than her magical combat prowess.
She has studied human anatomy almost obsessively, along with chemistry and other areas of interest. Thus, she is knowledgeable of pressure points, as well as chemical combinations that can be crafted from household items to suit her needs.
Timeshift - This ability creates a portal, or portals (up to two), that Akasha can use to teleport through. These portals can open anywhere. They can be combined, collapsed and/or expanded.
Rejuvenation - When injured, Akasha is able to bend dark energy to heal her wounds. Like the high recovery rate of the werebeasts, Akasha's Rejuvenation ability is capable of healing most minor to major injuries almost instantly. More severe injuries only have a faster recovery rate, because she is incapable of taking in enough dark energy to heal them without poisoning herself.
Hair Manipulation - Akasha is able to manipulate strands of her hair and give them temporary sentience, becoming a living weapon. When plucked, Akasha can manipulate the strand to be any inanimate object she can think of, complete with special traits that can change physical form at any time. However, any elemental affinity that she creates for that item will not change.
Wings of Darkness - An ability that sprouts black feathered wings from her back, allowing for flight and gliding for about an hour, with a 30 minute cool down before its next use. If not used for flight, they can remain for hours. It's been used so much that the ability has become a tattoo-like imprint of wings on her back.
~~
It's no secret that Akasha Bloodmare is a long-lived mage and is considered to be immortal. Although many guess that this is due to a potion that must be upkept, this isn't entirely true. Only partially true.
Akasha does create and maintain a potion for long life, but what has been keeping her immortal is the Demonic Parasite. The Parasite is attached to and lives in her brain with threads throughout her body. It can take extensive amounts of damage and can heal quickly. Because of the parasite, fatal blows on a normal Mage aren't... Entirely fatal for Akasha. The parasite does give her other abilities and can manifest within one or both of her eyes when active, but is otherwise undetectable - even to other carriers of the Black Blood.
Side effects of the parasite that will be seen as abnormal to others is the color of her blood. When Akasha bleeds, her blood is black rather than red and if one of her limbs is severed, it's not flesh that will be seen dangling from the severed ends - but the black tendrils of the parasite. These tendrils can reconnect easily and reattach what would have been missing body parts.
Because of this, the only way to kill Akasha for good is to inflict a terrible body wound, break open her skull and rip out the parasite. Once the Demonic Parasite has been removed, her body will then default to the potions, which would be unable to fully heal a fatal wound.
However, the Parasite itself is immortal... And will immediately seek out another host to inhabit.
When the kids were little, they called her "Aka-mama". Now that they're older, the girls just call her "mama" - reserving the title of "mom" for their birth mothers. They call Luvia "mommy".
Akasha Bloodmare, using a genderbend potion, became a man that stated his name was "Jaime Hadesburg" in order to seduce Aerallis Tithiros and produce a child. Aerallis refused "his" advances at first, but eventually allowed it in an attempt to defend herself and because she wanted some kind of positive connection... But she also felt as though she had to for survival. A chance to escape; 'He' wanted a family and promised that he would retire with her and their child - and bring Ilosti along, Aera persisted.
Akasha wanted a second legitimate child, one that she could raise, that was from a prominent and well known Mage bloodline - a child that could be capable of surpassing even her in terms of magical ability. Both Aerallis and Ilosti fit that bill, but Akasha chose Aerallis due to her looks and personality (and obsession).
Fallon was born as a result.
To this day, only Akasha and Luvia know that she is actually Fallon's legitimate other parent. Fallon was, however, told later on. As Akasha had raised her and is the only parent that she knows and likes, the knowledge didn't surprise her and didn't seem to change her opinion of Akasha at all.
