(welp, looks like I won't be on much tonight either, oops)
Esme found an entirely new outfit complete with a black knitted hat and fingerless gloves, tucking them under her arm before returning to their rendezvous point.

(I hate school so much…)
Maddie finished off the outfit with a pair of black biker leggings and brown boots, heading back to the spot where Esme said to meet back at.

Luke was already there, and Esme returned a moment later. She nodded a greeting and started casually perusing the nearby clothes, waiting for Nathan to return as well.

(sorry sorry!)
Nathan ambled back to the meeting point with the clothes he'd picked up. "Sorry I'm late. I can't tell time."
He stopped next to Luke and stopped before realising what he'd said. "OH. Um, I mean, um… yeah. Alright." He shut up and looked down, blushing.

(no worries! ^^)
Luke gave him a quirky smile. "Ah, you too? I could only read digital clocks until about ten months ago. Anyway, we only just got finished, so no prob."

Nate gave Luke a crooked grin before looking back to the ground. What a moron, he scolded himself. No wonder she had to come save you.
"Alrighty then, where to now?" he asked with forced lightness.

Esme looked around to make sure no one was nearby. "Now, we out. I'll probably find us an abandoned house or something on our next stop so we can change clothes if we have to."

Nate nodded and tightened his grip on his new clothes. They'd be his in a few seconds: finally some good news.
(I think at some point long before I said Nate had no backstory and I was referencing nothing? WELL GOOD NEWS during my 'hiatus' I wrote out his backstory so it exists now)

Esme quickly opened a portal directly underneath them and closed it again as soon as they were inside. A few seconds of darkness and silence passed, then the portal opened again and they were in the dim, chilly interior of a ramshackle house.

(well, if I'm honest, Nathan is one of my best OC's in my opinion so… yes? That sounded a little weird :# we'll see what Carrots thinks)
Nathan's breath hitched. He quickly closed his eyes. "What is this place?"

(Haha well Luke's one of my best, so I get it XD)
"I dunno," Esme said, peeking into the kitchen briefly before heading down the hall. "Just some house. I found it a few years ago and I use it as a place to stay sometimes. It must be in a pretty bad neighborhood if nobody's fixed or sold it yet."

"All the better for us, right?" He swallowed and opened his eyes. "I'm gonna go get changed."
He walked into a the brightest hallway he could find and randomly entered s room.

Luke found a room next to Nathan and could be heard snooping around after a moment. "This does look like a nice place to crash," he said, his voice muffled. "Maybe too good, though. I'll bet lots of rough types spend the night here when they can."

Nathan heard Luke in the room next door talking to himself. He didn't question it, though. He'd learned to trust the guy.
He sat on the edge of an old bed frame and buried his head in his hands, inhaling the familiar smell of rotting wood and dust bunnies. It wasn't a pleasant smell on its own, but it was the memories that came with it Nathan clung to. A silver lining if ever there was one.
He grabbed some clothes and got changed, sensing a moment of weakness coming on. Before he could do anything stupid, he walked back to the girls.

Esme was already changed and waiting, eating something that crunched loudly while gazing out the window. "You know, I'm not really the curious type, but sometimes I wonder about places like this. They almost always seem to have a higher concentration of negative energy in them. It could be something happened here that keeps people from coming back."
(do you think we should wait for Carrots here? I feel like she's getting a bit left behind)
