(for it to continue, we would probably need @Amber to return–haven't seen them in like a month, unfortunately. They're an intrinsic part of the story at this point. I'd love to continue, but I'd hate to leave them behind….)

(Okay so basically they were in Crash's territory and the girl called Esme had asked them to help her rescue her cough girlfriend cough from a powerful entity. Here's the last few bits of dialogue from when we left off: )
Nathan followed suit and stood up slowly. "Where are we going?"
"We'll head north west in about sixteen different jumps until we get to Alaska. Then we can take one big jump to the foot of Denali. I don't want to land on the peak, in case there are defenses against shadow spirits like me. Oh, and in the first few jumps we'll find you guys some mountain gear."
Did you find out anymore about whoever has your friend?" Luke asked.
No," Esme replied. "Nothing. Whoever it is seems to be pretty reclusive."
"Is there any chance they're as powerful as Blake?"
"It's possible. From the hints I've found, they might be even stronger."
Nathan exhaled loudly. "Well, shoot." He looked at her. "Any idea on how to get past them?"
"You guys are my idea. The Counteraction Theory applies to all magic, no matter how powerful, as long as it's used right. Other than that, we'll just have to be quick, quiet, and decisive. One thing for sure, I'm not leaving without her."
(I can't start in right away because I have a busy afternoon, and anyway Cary's won't be on for a while, but that should be enough to go on when we get back into it. ^^)

He tucked her last sentence into the back of his mind and turned to face the view. He knew they had no choice but to help this girl: they were technically in her debt (right?). But he couldn't shake the feeling something was very, very wrong. Reluctantly dismissing the thought, he turned back to face her.
"So. You and your friend seem very close. Known each other for long?" He watched for her reaction, wanting to know just how much Esme would do for her friend.
