Gabby watched the man leave. "Should we…go after him?"

"I'm for it!" Genie smiled.

She nodded, heading in the direction that the man had fled. "Which way did he go?"

There was too much. Too much to take in. He would tell them. He would tell them soon. Chakuro wiped away his tears, the bags under his eyes a little more prominent than usual on his gaunt frame. His sunken cheekbones seemed to sink deeper into his face, making him look like a skeleton. And he was. A skeleton of the boy he used to be.

“I’ll go,” Noa offered. Her form was already shifting into a kestrel. She looked at the towers, hoping no one else had seen.

"I want to come with," Genie said, "I'm kind of the one who caused him to run off."

She swooped down over the trees a few times, letting out cries so Genie could keep up. Eventually, she landed on a tree by Chakuro.

"Hello Noa." Chakuro waved.

Genie heard the cries and followed them. She saw Chakuro and used her fire to get on his level.

She tilted her head and let out a soft cry as greeting, but didn’t shift out.

"I suppose you should turn back now." he tilted his head towards Noa's form, "We don't want anyone seeing. It would ruin my plans for all of you."

She seemed to frown a little before slowly shifting back into herself, some skintight clothes on. She sat on the branch and pointed. “Genie’s almost here.”

Genie got there panting, "How…Are you… So fast?!"

"We should get back to the others. Also, thanks for not addressing me as king. I won't be for long."
