“So,” she lowered her voice to a whisper. “We plan. Later, tonight. The place where the king told us to meet. I don’t know what he wants us to do there - probably the same thing.”
“So,” she lowered her voice to a whisper. “We plan. Later, tonight. The place where the king told us to meet. I don’t know what he wants us to do there - probably the same thing.”
"And don't get caught," Genie added on.
August gave a quick nod in agreement, glancing at Charlie for a quick second, eye’s nervous.
//I thought they were meeting after the ball?
(oh okay I'll get rid of that then)
“I guess we should be giving tours or something now,” Noelle said after a moment. “Are you meant to be staying here?”
"I don't know," Genie looked at Gabby, "Do you know?"
"I…probably?" Gabby rubbed her forehead.
( Sorry that I was gone for so long. )
Charlie stood next to August protectively, her olive green eyes distant and guarded. No one was to touch her brother. She thought towards what Chakuro had said. If he was the king, why was he going to help them?
(just wondering but, mind if I join?)
( You can join. We'd love to have more people! )
Chakuro nodded at Genie's words. "I understand." he'd killed the ones who'd hurt his brother. Their promises were foolish, Chakuro remembered that all the twins in his era had done the same thing. Promised not to kill each other.
Did they not know that their food would be contaminated soon? With drugs that brought out their worst sides? He would warn them not to eat the food. Yes, that's what he would do.
But they'd find some way to get them, just like they'd gotten all of the twins. Did they think they were the only ones to never make a pact? Chakuro patted his horns, laughing to himself. How foolish they are.
August’s eyes shifted to the King, Chakuro, upon noticing the laughter, and his darker eyes narrowed slightly in suspicion. He could tell that Charlie had taken a likening to him, but August was still wary. A royal wanting to help them? He couldn’t trust that.
Noelle’s eyes narrowed. “Want to tell them what you were just remembering?” She asked, taking a step forward.
"All will be explained in the forest." Chakuro wrapped his wings around himself consciously, still a bit embarrassed, "I promise." he was from hundreds of thousands of years ago, how would he know to interact with these people? Were chicken sacrifices still a thing? Did children still sing that horrid song? Chakuro could hear it ringing in his ears.
"Twins, twins,
with a special mark,
born and raised,
to die in the dark,
colors of their hair, blonde, brown, and pink,
which one will be king I think?"
Gabby tilted her head. "Why can't you just tell us now? We're all here and listening."
“The chancellor’s gone,” she gestured. “Now’s as Good a time as any.”
(I've gtg but I might be back later)
"Really just going to leave us in the dark Mr. King?" Genie responded.
"D-don't call me that please." Chakuro backed away, hugging himself. Born and raised to die in the dark. Born and raised to die in the dark.
Aita was dead. Desu was dead. Everyone was dead. The castle grounds disappeared, the arena taking its place. Dead bodies littered the ground and he stared at his bloody hands as the haunting song filled the space.
"Born and raised to die in the dark," Chakuro repeated, gaze unfocused until his mind leaped back into reality.
"Born and raised to die in the dark..?" Gabby repeated, a confused look on her face.
"What? I'm sorry Chakuro," Genie looked at him strangely.
Noelle flinched back. “Gosh… that’s what happened.”
August hadn’t known what the King said, but he caught bits when Gabby repeated it. He reached down, giving Charlie’s hand a squeeze and a nervous glance.
Chakuro turned and flew away, masking his tears as he sat on the other edge of the grounds. His wings curled around him, shielding him from the world as he sobbed.
"And he's gone," Genie sighed.
