@PuffPoff
She stumbled back a little. "…What? But…why? Why would they make us do that?"
She stumbled back a little. "…What? But…why? Why would they make us do that?"
"I don't know. And I never will know. But I want to help you." Chakuro extended a hand, "It's better if I die instead of you."
Gabby flinched as he held out his hand, not taking it. "We should just leave then."
"If that's how you want to die, killed by the royals men. Which one will you choose? Killed by the other twins, killed by the royals, or helped by me?" convincing this girl was getting time-consuming. Chakuro could feel the chancellor staring at his back.
Gabby sighed, looking around at the other sets of twins. "They seem perfectly nice. I don't think they'd kill me."
August managed to read her lips that time and he nodded quickly in agreement that he wouldn’t hurt anyone. He would only do so if it meant protecting Charlie. He’d never thought about it, or acted upon it, but he suspected that he would kill for her if it was needed.
"You'd be surprised." Chakuro rubbed his arm, remembering that he'd thought the exact same thing. And then his brother had been killed.
Gabby causiously looked around at the others. They all do seem kind of suspicious…that one boy has barely been talking. She sighed. "Fine. Elm Woods after the ball. Fifth marked tree."
"Sounds good," Genie nodded. She walked up and whispered to Chakuro, "If anything happens to Gabby I will kill you."
She walked away with a smile on her face.
August arched a brow at them, curious as to what they were saying. He was always in a curious mood when it came to conversations. He could remember voices a bit. He wasn’t always deaf. He was in an accident and had gotten very sick as a child, that ended up taking away his ability to hear, but he learned how to cope.
Noelle walked quickly over to them, smiling gently. “Hello! I’ve only got a few minutes, but my sister suggested I come get to know everyone.”
Gabby looked around. "Wait…there's a ball? I don't think I packed a dress…"
"Hi!" Genie greeted her, "And you are?"
“Princess Noelle. What’s your name?”
Gabby's eyes lit up. "Princess? Like…royalty?"
“Yeah,” she said.
"Woah…that must be amazing!" Gabby exclaimed.
“I guess?” She shrugged. “I can’t compare - I’ve never been anything other than a princess.” Another call. She sighed. “That would be my tutor. I’ve got to go now. It was nice meeting you all.”
Gabby waved goodbye to her enthusiastically.
Genie smiled and waved also.
August was able to read Noelle’s lips and he gave a brief wave before stuffing his hands into his pockets. He felt fidgety because he was staying quite for so long. He was always wanting to sign things.
"Is there a reason August isn't talking?" Genie asked.
August recognized the words that he had read from people’s lips so many times. He snapped to get their attention and pointed at his ear, then shook his head as a way of trying to say that he was deaf.
"Oh your deaf," Genie responded, "That explains it."
Gabby nodded, understanding what August was saying. Or rather, miming.
