"Uhm…I can ask the landlady if she has a game we could use. Or…" Jair shrugged. "I really don't know." He said.
"Uhm…I can ask the landlady if she has a game we could use. Or…" Jair shrugged. "I really don't know." He said.
Kana thought in silence for a good minute. "We could disguise ourselves!"
Jair raised his eyebrows. "We both look too distinctive. There aren't very many mixed race men in this area of the country." He gestured to himself. "And you…you couldn't pass for a poor person to save your life. No offense."
"Heh. I'll take that as a compliment." She looked around the room and opened a cabinet. "Hey, do you like reading?"
He chuckled softly, then shrugged. "Sometimes, why?" He asked, looking over at her.
"There's a whole bunch of books in here, that's why." She grinned at him.
Jair sighed. "Alright. Long as they aren't boring, I'm fine."
(Lol if this was a movie, this would go: cuts to fifteen minutes later: Jair throwing a book down while going "they're all boring!")
(Omg lol for real though-)
Kana tossed a book at him and flopped onto the bed. "Would it be weird if I watched you read?"
He caught the book and sat down on the bed. "Uhm. Yes?" he replied, looking at her strangely.
She chuckled, "Don't worry, I won't. I was just curious about your response." She sat upright on the bed and looked at the wall. "I'll watch this wall read, instead."
He nodded. "Okay." he replied, opening up the book and starting to read. He was sitting cross legged, his dark hair drifting in front of his face slightly, as he hadn't tied it back.
Kana peeked at him, trying to be discrete about it. He looks… kinda good like this. She smiled to herself
Jair kept reading quietly.
(ok good lord this is boring. Time skip?)
(lol sure)
Time skip
"I think the guards are here."
Jair sat up, and set the book aside. Sword in hand, he walked to the door and opened it.
(Do you want me to be the guards?)
Kana followed him to the door but made sure to stay out of sight.
(sure)
"Hello." Jair greeted, eyes flickering over the group warily. It could be a trap, however unlikely.
There were about 5 guards in the group. The one in the center, presumably the leader, asked, "Is the Queen here?" He held up a little letter that Kana wrote to them. "Milady told us to come here."
Kana walked out of the shadows and said, "Yes, I'm here. You will be helping us with the governor."
The guards nodded.
Kana looked over at Jair. "Ready?"
Jair nodded. He pulled his armor on, sheathing his sword. He walked over to the guards. "I want you surrounding the queen. I'll be in the lead, and the rest of you form a protective circle." He instructed.
Kana grinned and admired how 'take-charge' he was. The guards nodded and obeyed Jair.
Just gonna say we're at the governor's house now
Kana gently knocked on the door and took a few steps back, in case if there was an attacker
Jair stepped back in front of Kana after she knocked, just in case.
After a few minutes, a servant opened the door, their eyes widening. "Oh. I…I'll get the governor." They said, and hurried off.
Kana smiled internally. She hated this governor and couldn't wait to kick him out. She started thinking of who would be a good replacement while they waited for him.
After a few minutes, the governor came to the door, his arms crossed. "What do you want?" He demanded.
"You don't speak that way to your queen." Jair replied in a deadly soft voice, sword flashing out and pointing at the governor's throat. "Try again."
The governor paled slightly, and his eyes went from Jair to Kana. "Fine. Why are you here?" He asked, slightly less surly.
