"I think so," Steve smiled, giving Bucky's hand a reassuring squeeze as they walked, "You're plenty interesting. I still wanna hear all about what you're thinking and feeling."
"I think so," Steve smiled, giving Bucky's hand a reassuring squeeze as they walked, "You're plenty interesting. I still wanna hear all about what you're thinking and feeling."
Bucky shrugged a little bit. "Well, I don't know." he replied, shaking his head a little bit. "I don't…I still don't remember too much."
"–And that's okay," Steve said, nodding as he shyly smiled at Bucky, "I'll always be more interested in what you're feeling or thinking, rather than what you do or don't remember. The memories don't have to completely define you."
Bucky looked at him. "Yeah, but…the memories are…still a large part of…of who I am." he replied slowly.
"They are," Steve said, nodding thoughtfully as they walked, "But I'm saying that even if you don't remember a lot, you're still you."
"Yeah, but…I don't remember enough to be…" he shook his head a little bit. "I don't know."
Steve turned to look at Bucky, wearing a sincere expression. "Bucky, you're enough," He said, "I mean– you're remembering stuff, and that's great. But even if if it's not much, you're still enough."
Bucky frowned a little bit. "I…" he didn't know how to reply to that. "Maybe so." he replied simply, shrugging his shoulders.
"I think so," Steve said with a faint smile, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze, "I've always thought so."
Bucky let out a faint breath, rubbing his face with a hand. "Alright." he replied simply.
Steve faintly nodded, glancing at his watch. He hummed for a moment, quietly noting that it was getting a little late. "You feel like headin' back to the subway?" He asked, "We can walk a little longer, too, if you like."
Bucky blinked, then nodded a little bit. "Yeah, that sounds fine." he replied. He was just happy to spend time with Steve, in all honesty.
Steve let out a soft laugh, glancing out at the darkened boardwalk and beach. "So…stay out a little longer?" He asked, smiling at Bucky, "Or we can slowly start heading back."
Bucky shrugged his shoulders. "I…I guess so." he said, smiling back. "It is getting pretty late."
"Okay," Steve quietly replied, smiling as he slowly turned to walk back. "I didn't even think about what time it was until I checked my watch," He said with a shy laugh, "The night went by so fast– I kinda wish there were a few more hours of light."
Bucky nodded a little. "Yeah. But hey, the sunset wasn't bad." he replied, smiling as he remembered their kiss on top of the ferris wheel.
Steve smiled as his gaze fell shyly to the ground. "Yeah, it wasn't bad," He said, his heart fluttering at the memory and quietly aware of Bucky's hand in his.
Bucky smiled a little, and wondered if he had the courage to try and kiss Steve's cheek. He wanted to, but…he wasn't sure what would happen if he did.
"And that kiss–" Steve said, biting his lip as he glanced up from the pavement to look at Bucky with a shy smile, praying that he wasn't blushing, "That wasn't too bad either."
Bucky smiled a little, chewing on his lower lip for a moment. "…yeah." he replied slowly, eyes sliding over to look at Steve.
Steve smiled at Bucky as they walked, quietly comparing the kiss from the dare to the one on the Ferris wheel. No one ever told me something could feel so right. "Nothing like the other night," He said, his gaze involuntarily flicking down to his mouth.
Bucky smiled. "Yeah." he replied, smiling as he looked at Steve. "Nothing like it." he couldn't help the way his eyes flickered to Steve's mouth for just a moment.
Steve smiled as he shyly looked down for a moment. "And I gotta say–" He said, absentmindedly running a hand through his hair, "I haven't kissed too many people– but somehow that felt…right."
Bucky let out a faint laugh, and nodded. "Yeah. It did." he replied, smiling a little as he looked at Steve and remembered that kiss.
"For you too?" Steve prompted, smiling though he was a little surprised at Bucky's openess towards how he'd felt, "Oh, well, that's a bit of a relief. I thought that– maybe you'd change your mind or something."
