“Good to know. Though… I am used to being ignored because of my size most of the time.” she admitted, shrugged.
“Good to know. Though… I am used to being ignored because of my size most of the time.” she admitted, shrugged.
"Not with me my friend. All people are people no matter how big or small. We all deserve to be recognized, yes?"
“Thank you, Rodney. I appreciate that.” she smiled, quickly flying up to kiss his cheek. “Though I might still use my bracelet occasionally when we get into towns.”
Rodney flushed pink at that, bashful from the affection before clearing his throat to try and regain some composure. "R-Right, that's a good idea."
Charlotte giggled softly at his blush as she sat back down on his shoulder. It was actually pretty cute seeing someone ten times her size blush. “I'm sorry. Does that make you uncomfortable?” she asked with a kind smile.
"No, no, not at all. It's just that I'm not used to it. I don't usually get attention like this that's truly genuine."
“I see… Well, I promise that I am very genuine. I can be flirty at times, but I won't do that to you unless we need to.” she told him.
"You're too sweet. I'll never be able to finish this trip if you're constantly around making me feel things."
“What things? I'm just trying to be nice. Besides, it's not exactly easy for me to just give you a hug when I'm not wearing my bracelet.” she pointed out, still only half teasing.
Rodney rolled his eyes with a smile. "Oh shush you. You're just teasing now and I can tell."
“Maybe I am… But just a little.” she shrugged. “I am still trying to be nice friend to you.”
"I can tell and I appreciate that. I just hope I'm not talking you ear off. That tends to be a habit of mine."
“Well, after traveling alone for… however long you have been, I can understand.” she smiled. “Also, I don't mind. It's nice to have someone to really talk with instead of just small talk.”
"I can imagine. Having the same conversations every day much get tiring. Like having a script you read from."
“Yes. Very much like reading a script.” she nodded empathetically. “The only break I got was listening to the adventurers tell stories. But honestly, even that can get a little repetitive.”
"There's only so many kinds of stories you hear when you're in the same place for years. Only a certain type of people come by."
“True.” she nodded. “I guess I never really thought about it much but that is true. We rarely got particularly rowdy customers or troublemakers. A couple of rouges or scoundrels though.” she smirked up at him.
"No, not possible, I can't imagine." Rodney laughed, his voice coated in fake shock and surprise.
“Oh, yes you can. You came in after all.” Charlotte laughed at his response. It was just too much fun teasing him like this. She would never be mean about it… Or at least, never planned to be mean but who knows what they could say to each other in anger if they ever got into a fight.
"No, how could you think low of me? Charlotte dear, I can't be that bad if you agreed to come with me." He pretended to be hurt, unable to stop smiling.
“Who said I did? I actually enjoyed meeting rouges and scoundrels at the inn. It seemed they had some of the more interesting stories.” she smiled back. “Not to mention their dramatics.”
"Ah yes, the best stories come from the worst people. Simply because they've been through the most things to talk about."
Charlotte raised a brow and looked up at him in concern. “Who says you're the worst people? I mean, I think you're very interesting and I won't argue what you've been through… But you're not “the worst” anything.”
"If only society said the same thing. For some reason, the most traveled people are labeled as the wildest."
“That doesn't make you the worst. Being wild isn't a bad thing.” she defended. “Like you said, you're nomadic. You want to see the world and get answers. That's more than I can say for most scholars who just have their nose in a book all the time.”
