Charlotte smiled and flew along side. “I might take me a while to get used to that fact. But I’m looking forward to seeing it all.”

"If we see it all. The world's a big place and I'm a trouble magnet. If we get to see it all, maybe then I'll finally settle down. Somewhere that I liked, I'll find a nice place to end my adventures."

“Well, maybe not all.” she admitted with a giggle. “I don't know if we’ll live that long. But, hopefully, I can help you avoid some of the trouble. And I think that that is a wonderful plan of yours.”

"I mean, I'd like to see it all. And I'm sure we'll find some way to see most of it but I don't think we'll ever see the full thing. Which is unfortunate. The world is beautiful, I want to see everything it has to offer."

“Oh, I agree.” she nodded excitedly. “To be able to see as much as we can… That's our goal for now. Until something comes up that says we can’t.”

"Like we lose our legs or get trapped in a coffin or something. I don't know, I don't usually think that far ahead. Normally I just go until something forces me to stop and that is nothing so far."

“Or my wings. I can get along without my legs as long as I have those.” she pointed out, flying in a quick loop to prove the fact. “It must be kind of exciting not making plans that far in advance.”

"Exciting, sometimes really inconvenient but mainly exciting. No plans means no expectations and therefore every surprise is a good surprise. You have no one to let down."

Charlotte hummed thoughtfully. “That's good because I hate to let people down. Sometimes it's impossible but it's still not a good feeling.” she admitted before looking around at the woods around them.

"Well, there's no one to disappoint out here. It's just you and me. The only witness we have to anything we do are the trees themselves. And luckily for us, the trees are good at keeping secrets."

Charlotte didn't have an immediate response to that beyond smiling as she flew around, a bit more cautiously than earlier. She was still excited to explore and, since the local fairy community was housed in trees, she was fairly familiar with this kind of environment. But… Her hand brushed against her bag where she put her bracelet before they left.

"Just don't give your name to the fae. I know fae and fairies are different. The fae will steal your identity if you give them your name because they take it as literally giving your name."

Charlotte laughed a little and nodded. “Well, I'm glad you know the difference. Not a lot of people do and I'm sure that the Fae get pretty annoyed by the mix-up.”

"Oh I would hate that. They're so different, I would get so annoyed if people thought I was the same as something else. They do that with magic users. Every magic user is a wizard to the common folk when that's not how this works."

Charlotte nodded. “I know it's not. I mean, I know that there are differences between wizards, witches, and other types of mages but… I have to admit that I forget the details of what those differences are.” she said with an apologetic shrug.

"Yeah, most do. Most of us in the magic community have learned to ignore it. Some are more sensitive, especially the sorcerers, but most of us don't really care."

“Well, I'm glad I'm traveling with a friend who knows and can teach me. And I can help you out with any questions regarding fairies, Fae, and obviously how to avoid trouble.” she smiled, half teasing.

"I mean, I'll definitely need some help with that last one, seeing as I can't do it on my own. I've tried, it just doesn't work out. But hey, it makes for some pretty interesting stories."

Charlotte laughed with him and nodded. “Oh, I'm sure. And I look forward to hearing some of those stories as well as making some new ones.”

"Oh absolutely. I think I've officially been banned from…I think it's eight towns? Maybe seven. I don't totally remember. I probably should."

Charlotte's eyes widened as she stared at him. “Banned? How much trouble do you have to get into in order to be banned from a town?” she asked, never hearing about that situation… except in extreme cases.

"Coincidence and reputation. Wrong place, wrong time. Unfortunately that's not a great defense in front of a judge and my reputation proceeds me. I'm a bit of a scapegoat."

“That's… Well, at least now you have me as a witness. That’ll make it harder for them to convict you.” she pointed out. “And I can help you with your reputation as well.”

"Yeah, that's true. Maybe now people will actually respect me. Maybe I'll be laughed with instead of laughed at."

Charlotte frowned a little when she learned that Rodney was laughed at, but she refrained from asking for now. Chances were that he wasn't going to be as willing to talk about it and she wouldn't blame him. “We'll work on it. If you’d like we can say you're my guardian.” she suggested. “What's more respectful than being responsible for someone.”
