Lilac nodded slowly. Bean looked up at Earl. “Yeah, we’re okay…other than Luka needing a minute to calm down, we might be alright…” she sighed as Luka looked away. “Do you have any food in there?”
Lilac nodded slowly. Bean looked up at Earl. “Yeah, we’re okay…other than Luka needing a minute to calm down, we might be alright…” she sighed as Luka looked away. “Do you have any food in there?”
"Not that I remember, but I can try my best…" Mori eyed the pills warily, fidgeting a bit with his hands. "How do I do it?" He asked, turning his gaze up to Rachel for instruction. "Do I just… you know… eat it?"
"Kind of. You swallow it with some water." Rachel said, handing the canteen and pills to the kid. "Put them in your mouth and drink some water. Best way to do it."
(Ack short-)
"Plenty." He opened up his pack, looking inside. "Let's see…we got corn, bean, green beans, more regular beans, skittles, a burger, casserole, rice, tacos, some pork, and I think squirrel." Earl handed the pack to Bean. "Your pick."
Bean smiled as she grabbed the burger, rice, and skittles. She handed the rice to Lilac and the burger to Luka, keeping the skittles for herself. Once all three of them stated eating, things got a little calmer.
"So… don't chew it?" Mori accepted the pills and the water, examining the pills for a few seconds before sticking them in his mouth. He winced a bit at the taste, drinking some of the water to try and get them to go down. He choked a bit and gagged, coughing until he spit the pills back out into his hand with tears stinging his eyes.
(BABY NO-)
"Whoa, whoa, easy. Not so fast. Don't think about it when you're drinking the water. Just relax and drink the water." Rachel rubbed Mori's back, trying to calm him down. "You okay?"
Earl took the squirrel for himself, preferring the things he hunted. "So where's the other guy? Tohru, or something?"
(Little Fetus loser lmao can't even take pills 😩🙄😔✋🥱😝)
Mori nodded weakly and tried again after he'd regained himself, going slower this time. He still struggled with it quite a bit, but eventually managed to get the pills down. "Nngh… is it… is it always that hard…?"
“No clue…hope he’s okay…” Bean shrugged as she continued to eat the skittles. Once her siblings were finished with their food, she sighed. “How much longer are we gonna be separated from the others…?” Luka muttered as Bean shook her head. “I have no idea, bro…”
(Agajsls I feel that lmaoooo I was way too old when I learned to swallow pills. I still suck at it)
(cries in why do I know how to swallow pills easily)
(Same. Pills are weird)
"You get better at it. In the apocalypse, painkillers will be your friends." Rachel stood up, gathering her gear. "How about we go join the others and relax, eh?"
Earl nodded. "I hope so too." He yawned and sat back in his chair. "Man, despite the zombies and everything, hunting season has never been better.."
(I'm pretty good at swallowing pills aha)
"O-Okay…" Mori got to his feet unsteadily, nearly falling over once he was up, but managing to catch himself on the wall. "Mmm… where… um… where are they…?" He asked weakly, his vision shifting in and out of focus.
“Our dad used to take us hunting too…” Bean muttered. She missed her parents badly. She wondered what they were doing…if they were even alive. Luka hugged Bean because apparently tears had decided to escape her eyes. Great. Just what she needed.
Earl regretted mentioning hunting when he saw how Bean reacted. "…I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you." He said as he finished his squirrel.
"I got you." Rachel picked Mori up gently, trying to not cause too much pain as she went dow the stairs. The pills would take a few minutes to kick in, and that would seem like the longest minutes ever to Mori ever. She knew what it was like to have a concussion.
"Mmmmm…" Mori closed his eyes and relaxed a bit in Rachel's arms, wincing whenever his head gave him a particularly sharp pang of pain. He kept his arms crossed over his chest, still trembling from the fear and pain.
“No, no, it’s fine…it was bound to come up anyway…” Bean sighed, pulling Luka close. She would pull Lilac close but that might cause some issues with her wound. She started fiddling with her hair.
"How did you come to that survivor camp, if I may ask?" Earl asked, pulling out a cigarette out of his jacket pocket. "Where's my lighter…" He muttered.
Rachel walked out to the living room, nodding at Earl and glancing at Lilac as she set Mori down next to her. "Now take it easy, okay?"
“We were looking for it for a while…we had been separated from our parents and Lilac and….when we managed to get there, it wasn’t long until our sister Hailey died…” Bean trailed off as she felt Luka tighten his grip on her. Luka didn’t really like talking about Hailey’s death.
"Mmkay…" Mori curled up when he was set down, cradling his aching head in his hands. He was breathing a bit heavier than usual, and he seemed very uneasy.
A tear rolled down his face. Their story was all too similar to how his mother died. "I see…I'm sorry for your loss." Earl pulled out his lighter and lit his cigarette. "I won't pry. You guys just relax and try to calm down."
Rachel leaned on the arm of the chair her brother was sitting on. "Pass me the skittles please."
Bean nodded, passing Rachel the skittles before cuddling up with her siblings. Lilac leaned against Bean as Luka did the same. Soon both siblings fell asleep, with their older sister following shortly after.
Mori whimpered softly, the pain meds not having kicked in yet. "Mmmm… can I sleep too…?" He asked weakly. "I'm tired and my head hurts and I don't wanna be awake…"
Rachel nodded. "Resting is all you can do now Mori. Go ahead." The poor kid was so young…and he had to experience the horrors of the apocalypse. And he didn't know that zombies weren't the worst thing in the world… She ate a few yellow skittles, savoring the sour taste.
Earl stared off into space, thinking about his life before the apocalypse. How he hunted boars, pigs…sometimes bears…
