@Carrots whoa! That's really good! Holy heck! The shading is fantastic!

@Motaki my secret is 19283739292029822 tries, my own hand, references (lucky enough for me is that I found one that works), and an entire fourth of my eraser

Wow, I would normally take all day, tons of mechanical pencils and a whole ereasers… And I would flood the room with references…

@alice Thanks! It looks kinda dark (the shading) in the photo but I’m pretty proud

You should be! It's really impressive!

I just got done with the lighting on this angry bois hair and I'm pretty damn proud of it

It looks a bit weird, probably because of the hair, but either then that it’s great!

@Becfromthedead group

Yeah, so I've been working on some OC art that I'm proud of, so I guess I finally get to post some stuff on this chat! They're just sketches, but I'm still trying to refine designs and stuff for most of my characters.

@shattered_heart

I just started doing digital art and as I'm not very good at it, I've just been layering over photos. Is that cheating?

Anyway below are two of my pics. The girl is one of my main character from a book I am writing. I layered over a photo (I deleted it when I was done as my layers were sort of see through and I didn't want it being influenced by the photo beneath) I discovered on Pinterest and looks quite similar. As you can tell I couldn't be bothered with her clothes. And yes, I am well aware I forgot to touch up her lips.
The guy is the second main character out of a book I'll probably never write. I created him by layering over a pic of a guy out of a movie I watched. They don't look a like at all anymore as I only used the other pic to outline his facial features.

I was really proud of the background but then the dude covered most of it up.

@shattered_heart

(blushes bright red) Aw, thanks. Is it cheating though, layering over photos? I'm going to move onto layering over my own sketches soon.

@The-N-U-T-Cracker

I wouldn’t consider it cheating, you’re still drawing and coloring things yourself. You might not improve as fast though, so every once in a while I’d recommend doodling something without it.

@houdini

i did a pretty cool drawing of cody carson, from set it off:

and geoff wigington from waterparks:

my all time favorite drawing of mine is this:

it's josh ramsay from marianas trench

holy crap, how are y'all so good at art!? Those are freaking amazing!

Deleted user

@elvirawolfheart Well… tricky question… some artist do the same (Ross Draws for example) but to some point it could be like cheating (depends on who you ask, I mean, seems completely fine to me but still)… but these look gorgeous and I love the way everything looks so smooth but still, I would recomend that you keep practicing and the use of references is never a bad choice so is okay if you copy the pose of an already existing photo and as long as you´r not drawing on top of someone else´s drawing then that´s ok :)

@younghoudini Those are amazing! and the hands :D and the last one :D!

thank you both <3
i don't know why i divided the first and last ones from each other, since those were finished on the same day but geoff was finished on Dec. 5 of last year, so even from that point i've improved some. i still think he and cody need some work, but i'm really proud of how josh turned out lol. the hand was so hard, but so worth it lmao

And the way you put effort even in the little details like the wrinkles on the hand

trust me, it took forever to get it right lmao. inspiration struck at around 8pm on the thirteenth, and i worked at it until 9:30, then all day the next day, when i finally finished (during my spanish class lol)

@younghoudini Those are all amazing! I especially love the one of Josh Ramsay.

thank you!! it's definitely my favorite. i was so happy with the hand and the shading, and honestly, his features turned out so good…i have the reference i used here:

@ninja_violinist

This is one of my favorite ones I've ever done
I've only just gotten into backgrounds so I was really happy with how it turned out at the time
