@shattered_heart

(blushes bright red) Aw, thanks. Is it cheating though, layering over photos? I'm going to move onto layering over my own sketches soon.

@The-N-U-T-Cracker

I wouldn’t consider it cheating, you’re still drawing and coloring things yourself. You might not improve as fast though, so every once in a while I’d recommend doodling something without it.

@houdini

i did a pretty cool drawing of cody carson, from set it off:

and geoff wigington from waterparks:

my all time favorite drawing of mine is this:

it's josh ramsay from marianas trench

holy crap, how are y'all so good at art!? Those are freaking amazing!

Deleted user

@elvirawolfheart Well… tricky question… some artist do the same (Ross Draws for example) but to some point it could be like cheating (depends on who you ask, I mean, seems completely fine to me but still)… but these look gorgeous and I love the way everything looks so smooth but still, I would recomend that you keep practicing and the use of references is never a bad choice so is okay if you copy the pose of an already existing photo and as long as you´r not drawing on top of someone else´s drawing then that´s ok :)

thank you both <3
i don't know why i divided the first and last ones from each other, since those were finished on the same day but geoff was finished on Dec. 5 of last year, so even from that point i've improved some. i still think he and cody need some work, but i'm really proud of how josh turned out lol. the hand was so hard, but so worth it lmao

And the way you put effort even in the little details like the wrinkles on the hand

trust me, it took forever to get it right lmao. inspiration struck at around 8pm on the thirteenth, and i worked at it until 9:30, then all day the next day, when i finally finished (during my spanish class lol)

@younghoudini Those are all amazing! I especially love the one of Josh Ramsay.

thank you!! it's definitely my favorite. i was so happy with the hand and the shading, and honestly, his features turned out so good…i have the reference i used here:

@ninja_violinist

This is one of my favorite ones I've ever done
I've only just gotten into backgrounds so I was really happy with how it turned out at the time

@ninja_violinist

@younghoudini That's such good realism though?? Like the shading is on point, the proportions are on point, it actually looks so much like your reference photo…
can I just absorb your art skills please

i honestly surprised myself with it?? but thank you!!
and you don't need to absorb mine because lookit your drawing it's so soft and whole and not just random pencil lines and!! and ugghhh i want to practice digital art so bad because of talent like this. seriously though, one of the things i struggle with the most is discrediting myself when i see something "better" (aka not my style) so no, you're not allowed to discredit yourself even the slightest. i really, really love yours, the emotion, how the eyes stand out, the cracks in the freaking stairs, the shading of each individual finger and the freckles and the hair!! it's beautiful!

@receptions

you guys are so good!! i'm new and trying to escape old socials so i thought i'd try to break the mold with a little bit of my art i guess? i mostly do freebies instead of original art now but idk. this is an oldie but a goodie of my main man. (also sorry if i didn't embed the image right i have no idea what i'm doing) https://i.imgur.com/gxd1B74.jpg

Gah everyone here is so good at art and then there's me T-T

@receptions

@/Alice thank you <3 and don't say that !! everyone is from different walks of life and we all enjoy drawing different things at our own paces. sometimes the hardest part is just sitting down and doing it. i believe in u (ff the @ wont work right sorry for the person i accidentally pinged)
