“I lived in foster homes until I was five, I didn’t really have any toys.” Of course she had toys after she was adopted but they were mostly weapons. “What about something like this?” She picks up an adorable stuffed bear that played music when it’s paw was pressed. “It’s pretty cute.” She could see it getting pretty annoying though. “Maybe a couple of outfits too?” Clothes seem like a safe bet.
"That looks cute," He hummed softly, picking up a second one. While she saw it getting old, he saw it as something the boys would be able to look back at and enjoy. "Outfits sounds good too." He wasn't really a big fan of coming back to a lot of outfits after his ex-wife's baby shower, but she had loved it. So it was a pretty safe bet.
With a grin, she picks up a cute onesie with the phrase ‘I have the best aunt ever!’ and then other one that says ‘I get my awesomeness from my aunt!’. “Maybe I could get something customized once they pick names.” Not outfits though. “Monogrammed teddy bears?” She had gotten one for her sixth birthday and still has it. That bear was her first actual birthday present and it meant the world to her. “These are pretty cute.” Turning, she shows him a couple of onesies with patterns and cartoon animals on them.
Cameron listened to her muse about the outfits and the other choices they had. "Ooh, monogrammed bears would be nice," He hummed, smiling. He nodded at the onesies once she showed them to him, humming as he looked around the store. "How about we grab some bottles and head back to see how dad did with the dogs?"
Ava smiles and drapes the chosen onesies over her arm. “That’s a good idea. I really hope that the dogs didn’t give him too much trouble.” Surveying the area, she spots the section with the bottle and heads over. They’ll need an even number of bottles so she figures that they can buy them in sets.
Cameron walked over with her and promptly picked up a big set with a breast pump and a big set of bottles of all kinds of sizes.
"Let's get this." He showed it to her with a grin.
“That thing looks like a torture device,” Ava laughs, eyeing the breast pump. It never ceases to surprise her that they’re considered normal when they look insanely painful.
"Well, it works, and most women like it because they don't leak as much," He hummed, collecting a box of bags for the pump.
“I’ll take your word for it.” That’s something she’s never needed to or wanted to know. “Is that all we should get?”
"I bet you will." He only knew it because his ex bitched about it all the time. "Yep, this all seems good. Then we should swing by the post office to mail this off."
“As long as Chris and Mallory like it, right?” She glances down at the items in her arms, hoping that everything is good. “Sounds like a plan.” The shopping trip went a lot smoother than she had expected.
"Yep. Hopefully Mallory will like it." He trotted up to the front and let Ava pay for it this time as he asked for it to be gift wrapped. He took the box once everything was wrapped.
Pulling out her wallet, she searched through it until she finds some cash. She quietly pays the person behind the counter. After this they’ll have to hit the post office and then they can head back to the house.
Cameron thanked the person when they left, giving the etiquette needed. He led her outside with soft hums, walking with a more relaxed pace. Eventually, after a bit of walking, they passed his house and to the post office nearby.
Ava follows him out of the store, feeling less tense than before. “How long do you think it’ll take for these to arrive?” Hopefully it won’t be too late for the baby shower.
"I'm not sure," Cameron admitted to her. "I bet it'll get there on time, though, don't worry." He trotted into the post office and asked for some stamps to the mansion address.
Ava nods her head as she enters the post office. “Can we talk once get back to the house?” Things might go a little smoother if she gives him a heads up that they’re going to be having an important talk.
Cameron glanced at her as he filled out the slip he was given when the attendant walked away. "Sure. We can." He nodded a little and went back to filling it out and sticking it onto the box.
Ava glances over his shoulder, checking to make sure that all of the information is correct. Everything seems to be in order so she’s really hoping it’ll arrive on time.
Cameron gestured for her to pay the stamps bill and the shipping stuff, then slid it over to a second person who appeared. He thanked them and waited for her.
Ava takes out some money and hands it over to the person waiting for it. With that done, she turns to face Cameron. “Ready to go?” She’s ready to see the pups.
"Yep, I'm ready when you are," He hummed softly, opening the door for her. He hummed a soft tune as he followed behind her back home, where they were greeted by the excited dogs.
With a quiet thank you, she steps out of the building and starts to head back to the house. “Moji slatki mali anđeli! Jeste li bili dobri za svog djeda?” She coos and she showers all of the dogs with love.
Cameron greeted his dad, who was relaxing on the couch in the family room, his hair all fluffed up. He asked if he and the dogs did okay, and he launched off in an explanation of what they all did together. It sounded like a lot of fun.
Ava snuggles all of the dogs, telling them how much she missed them and how much she loves them. Once they’ve all been loved on, she tunes into the conversation between Cameron and his dad. She’s thrilled to learn that the dogs did good.
