“Okay, we can have rings but nothing fancy.” Ava can’t help but smile at all of the kisses. The thought of wedding planning is daunting so she’s delighted when he agrees to something simple. She would honestly be fine with just getting married at the courthouse. “I love you, Cameron.” Reaching up, she gently kisses him.
"Okay." He smiled bright. He loved jewelry shopping, especially for rings. He wished he went out already for her ring, but now it didn't matter. She'll probably just want a simple engagement band and a smaller wedding band. And honestly he was okay with that.
It’s finally starting to sink in. She just got engaged as a spite move against her father. That, surprisingly enough, isn’t that shocking. She’s always been on the more rebellious side. Getting married is something she always thought would be scary and pointless but she’s accepting this quickly. She and Cameron are basically already a married couple but without the legal part.
Cameron nudged her with his head, pulling on her. "Let's go inside. We can tell your dad the news later and see what he thinks then." He didn't want her rushing telling him. That way it didn't seem too convenient. Convenience was his worst nightmare, and it would be horrible if her father found out what happened.
Ava nods her head and allows herself to be pulled along. Getting out of the snow is a great idea, she would hate to catch a cold. “Let’s hope that he accepts this when I tell him.” It’ll have to wait until a little later or he’ll figure it out. She can only imagine how bad it would be if he does learn about this. That certainly wouldn’t end well. She steps into the house, taking a deep breath.
Cameron shut the door behind him and trotted in the kitchen to take some kompot that his father made warm. He poured two cups and gestured for Ava to follow, as Lachlan played with the puppies and their new toys.
Ava heads into the kitchen, glancing over her shoulder to look at Lachlan and the puppies. They’re adorable playing together. It seems as though Kreja is joining in on the fun. She smiles in amusement as the dog violently shakes the frog toy.
Cameron nudged her and handed her a cup of the sugary, warm drink. He smiled and followed her gaze, laughing at his father who was struggling holding on to two toys.
"Let's hope they don't rip him apart."
“Thanks.” Ava accepts the cup from him with a happy hum. “Our babies are growing up too fast. It’s crazy to think about how small they were when we first got them versus how big they are now. I wish that they could stay in the puppy stage forever.”
Cameron wrapped his arm around her and pulled her in again, smiling as he watched. "Me too, honestly. They're such good puppies. I'm really glad they're housebroken because if they weren't, you probably wouldn't be wishing that."
Ava leans up against him, her eyes glued to the puppies. “I definitely wouldn’t be wishing that if they weren’t housebroken. Potty training is a pain in the ass,” She says with a laugh. “Putting them in diapers probably would’ve been easier.”
Cameron laughed with her, nodding his agreement. "We should be considered blessed with this incredible achievement. Anyway, wanna head upstairs?" He asked her gently, before taking a sip of his drink.
“Incredibly blessed.” Ava smiles up at him. Glancing back towards the dogs, she takes a sip of her drink, enjoying the sugary taste. Potty training is something that she’ll never miss. “Yeah, let’s go.”
(I’m badly sunburned but alive lol Everyone is exhausted so the trip might be shorter than I was originally lead to believe)
(Lmaooo also i clicked on this and forgot to answer it i'm sorry
anyhow wanna skip?)
(It’s totally fine. I’ve been out on the beach for what feels like forever. This is my first period of rest.
Yeah! Any idea?)
(Oooh that sounds awesome. Hon use more sunscreen.
nope none at all. I guess we could go to when they decide to go to their trip to the Black Sea, get rings and show her dad.)
(Yeah, it is awesome. I reapply sunscreen like every thirty minutes but I get burnt anyways.
That is perfectly fine with me. So maybe they get the rings and she calls her dad to let him know?)
(Oof. I don't know that feel. A lot of my family is Italian so we have really good skin lmaooo. I'm the darkest of all of my friends and I rarely burn.
Yep! That's the plan.)
(Oh, I’m so jealous! You are super lucky with that. I’m really pale thanks to my dad and I can walk outside for two minutes and get burned lol
Should I start or should you?)
(Ye lmaooo. After band camp I'm always super dark and not burned at all. It's so good.
Can you?)
(My cousin is Greek on her father’s side and she has a natural tan and rarely burns. It kills me that she applies one layer of sun screen and gets to stay out all day.
Yep!)
Ava sighs as she stares at her phone. They’re at the Black Sea right now, enjoying some time away and she’s stuck stressing about calling her father. She’s dreading the phone call but she knows that she needs to get it over with eventually. The plan definitely isn’t going to work if she doesn’t call him.
Cameron was wrapped up in a towel, and he was sitting next to her in the hotel room they rented out. They had just arrived, and he wanted her to get the first thing out of the way. They had gotten their rings, simple gold wedding bands (hers had a couple stones on them), and he was waiting.
"Ava, you might as well do it now so we can enjoy ourselves." He set a hand on her thigh, gazing at her and her worried expression.
Ava puffs out her cheeks as she considers this. It obviously has to be done but she’s certainly not eager to do it. “Alright, I’m calling.” In order to avoid talking herself out of it again, she presses down on the button before the words are even out of her mouth. It only takes a moment for her father to pick up. “Bok tata! Htjela sam ti reći nešto što je prilično uzbudljivo. Cameron i ja smo se upravo zaručili.” She hears a second voice in the background. It appears as though her brother is listening in. “Što?! Ozbiljno me to pitate?“ Her expression quickly becomes agitated. Only a second later, she’s hanging up the phone.
